| Paint thickness on a Fabia vRS I had the opportunity to get some paint thickness measurements for my car today, which may be of interest. The paint on the driver's door jamb measured 65.6 microns, so that's the primer plus colour coat thickness. Subtract that from the plotted values and you have an idea of how much clear coat there is to grind away at. No prizes for spotting the resprayed bit! ![]() ![]() ![]() ...And it goes without saying that the values for your car will be different, but the general trends may be the same (so don't practice on the bit above the rear wheel arches.) |

| Re: Paint thickness on a Fabia vRS or the bit just infront of your sun roof!!!!!! your wheels are powdercoated and will therefor be much thicker too.

| Re: Paint thickness on a Fabia vRS I recently had my vRS estate detailed by a professional and he measured the paint all over the car and mostly it was down to 70 or 80 microns with nothing over 90! So, he had to be pretty careful how he worked on it. The car is only nine months old, I've just bought it from a main dealer whose valet service is a tad aggressive with the polishing process to say the least. The car looks the business though ![]() |
