painting plastic

I have a query, I have front and roof spoilers and side skirt to be fitted, but they have to be painted first. I was just wondering if it is worth getting them properly painted with metallic paint at the dealer or just can spray them?? Much difference???

YES!!!

As it is plastic that is being painted, it has to be done properly as the plastic flexes more than the paint so that within a year or so it will look rubbish and it will be flaking off. When painting onto plastic proffessional painters treat the paint so that it is more flexible and will not crack. It is more expensive, but in the long run it is by far the best option.

Christian, that's good advice from Jeff. Get the painting done professionally or you will regret it later, and it will cost a whole lot more to put right. Are you fitting the Milotec roof spoiler?

Thanks for the advice, guys. I will talk to my dealer tomorrow to get it painted.

No, it is the AutoStyl roof, rear, and front spoiler and side skirts being fitted. I liked them a bit better than the Milotec one's.

I talked to my dealer today and I think I need a new jaw… He quoted me £800 to have the spoilers and skirts painted and fitted. Any ideas what the costs are in the UK roughly, because I am heading there in January to do my final mods to the car and can do the painting aswell…
