Default Soon to be a member of the PC club

Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered one from Autopia yesterday. Decided to just order it on its own, and get the pads etc from Rich at PolishedBliss.

Looking forward to receiving it soon

I ordered one the other day too, and got it on Friday - not half quick considering I only ordered on Wednesday! Even the 110v transformer I ordered from the UK didn't turn up that quickly!

I need to find a victim for my first attempt though... I think my younger brothers car might be the first to receive the treatment... Followed by my mums civic

Can I be really cheeky and ask roughly how much it was? Saw a price at around £175 with the pads etc, are they really that much? I really want one but that is a lot of cash. Good luck with it anyway, post us some before and after pics asap.

It's a fantastic bit of kit. Easy to use too.

I was gonna use my neighbours Astra as guinee pig but after just doing my half bonnet as a test, I was amazed how easy this tool is!

You do get funny looks from the neighbours though. They think you are using an axle grinder on the paintwork!

I got some pads and things with it too - think it came to around 140 including shipping which isnt too bad for what it is... Still a lot of money though

Got mine about a month ago in a mini group buy. Aparantly the most cost effective way to buy is in 3's as you will get a discount of 15% IIRC and a better rate on shipping.

I paid £140 for the kit plus a few extra pads, 10 microfibre cleaning cloths and a super dooper buffing bonnet, still expensive but woth it for the results you can get

Not all at all, PC on its own was roughly £96 inc the shipping (with the discount available). I'm then going to get the extra stuff I need from Polished Bliss. For that read pads, polish(es), transformer, 110v extension, converted plug and a backing plate or two (depending on pads required), It may work out slightly more cost effective to buy the kit, but the Country Lake pads are considered to be better than the Sonus ones Autopia stock, so I just ordered the PC on its own.

Just trying to work out the cheapest place for the 750va transformer now. Would be good if I could get one here for less than £40 - anyone in the building trade?

If I can get everything together for the weekend, I might have a bit of time then - weather dependant of course. Will post in due course

Steve

£140 not too bad. I can imagine that it's worth it, especially at this time of year. How often are people using them? Every time you wash the car ie once a week, or just once a month to top up the shine? I suppose it's down to how much time you've got on your hands eh?

Depends what you're using it for on the usage question I suppose. If you're using a cutting polish and pad regularly you'll soon wear through the clear coat - which isn't a good thing

That's how you get good results really, reducing the clear coat by microns, so that scratches and swirls appear less evident, then top up with a decent finishing glaze/polish that smooths the paintwork over again

Well, that's the theory anyway

We'll see.

a good buy and one you wont regret, mine's going strong two and half years on, and it really has done some work!

I may be down Wilmslow way later next month helping a mate with a couple of cars, so if you want any tips might be a useful opportunity.....

Cheers for that - might be helpful. That's just a short trip for me. Give me a shout nearer the time (by PM, MSN whatever...)

What car will it be - do you know?
