VRS bumpers on 4x4?

Hello people, first post on this forum, hoping I could pool some knowledge or learn from others experience.

I should be picking up a low mileage 2001 Octavia 1.8T (150BHP) 4x4 elegance saloon this week. From experience I like the 4x4s and the increased ground clearance that the VRS doesn't offer but I like the VRS styling. Plus the money I have available I couldn't afford a nice clean VRS so this is the sensible buy, as much as it pains me to do it! Does anyone know if VRS bumpers can be used as a standard replacement for the saloon? I would imagine that if anything the VRS bumper would have more room inside it for clearance of engine components etc but wondered if I may run into trouble with mounting positions or anything else I may not be taking into consideration.

Many thanks

Sam

In a word, yes. No worries, just whack them on.

Re: VRS bumpers on 4x4?

they fit fine, i and a few others have the vRS bumper on a 4x4. i don't have the rear but the only difference is the cut out for the exhaust. no extra clearance just nicer looks

Re: VRS bumpers on 4x4?

Sweet, thanks people. Better start looking then, anyone know of a good source for second hand body parts? I am a panel beater by qualification (although not in the trade anymore so prob bit rusty) so preparing parts with minor blemishes on for painting isn't a problem, such as from reputable vehicle breakers

Bengie & DaveH - Do you have any pics of the bumper fitted on your car?

Re: VRS bumpers on 4x4?

Thanks again people, had some really helpful advice via post and PMs. Funny how a bumper and maybe a little ride height adjustment can really alter the appearance so much

Re: VRS bumpers on 4x4?

Don't mate...

I'd never even heard of Jabba until I found this site (free plug for you guys - internet marketing works Haha) but I was looking at Superchips and their measley power hike. Well, I think its fair to say I'll be making a trip to Peterborough in the next couple of months.

Depending on how it looks with the VRS bumper on and VRS wheels I may be lowering it as well, but I'll weigh up the pros & cons when I see what it looks like.

I really don't want to get addicted, I got an addictive hobby already that saps my cash

Re: VRS bumpers on 4x4?

vRS front bumper skin is only around £140 new. There's some pics in here (post 41) of mine with the vRS front bumper, I tried attaching them to this post but the forum wouldn't let me because they're already in the other thread.
