Default What the new VRS should have looked like

Hi there all,
I must admit that I am a bit dismayed by the new VRS. I am a proud owner of the old version but I dont know where they thought they were going wiith the new design.
Sure its performance has been improved but it just looks too imposing, especially the front end. The one thing I like about the Mk1 vesion is how good the front looks. On the new version it has all been lost. If you look at the grill area its just a load of black plastic with no style.
If you look at the fabia VRS they were getting it just right. By this I meen the lower fins with the fog lights. This is what I was expecting on the new Ocativa, and what have we got but a load of poor design. If you ask me VAG have seen the previous skoda VRS designs and taken some of it for the new Audi's.
Anyway where am i going. The rest of the VRS looks great, just a shame about the front spoiler area. I still might be looking to buy the new version but I think the front end will need some modification.

What do you think to the mod below

When I saw my 1st old type vRS Octy, l knew that I would have 1,not that I would like 1, but that I would have 1. I can't put my finger on what has changed, l "like" the new vRS, but nothing says buy me, the new Octy is to tall, the vRS lowers this a little, but not enough for me, love how it drives, like it while sitting in it, but the look, just does not say "you will have this soon" to me.
Cant put finger on what I think is wrong, but to my eyes, something just aint right

I'm not as keen on the Mk2 Octy vRS as the Mk1. Nor am I keen on the new fabia based on the photo's I've seen so far!

As for the new Focus, well that's just plan wrong.

Having had an Octy II vrs while my furby was in being serviced, it was a decent car, what youre getting for 17K I personally feel is good value.

However whilst it drives and performs well, when I got into the car it didnt have the " YOU WANT TO BUY ME " feel, that my little furby vRS had when I first drove it.

But each to their own.

yeh, mk 1 in that pic reminds me of a felica.
its just a case of styles changing. personally i love the top half of the front end of the mk 2 and if it was possible (cheaper) to swap the lights and grille onto my furby it would be in the bodyshop by now. however i like the look of the mod to the lower but prefer the furby bottom half.

Comparing a mk2 in black to a mk1 in silver doesn't help though as it highlights the black rub strips. I think the feature that ages the front of the mk1 the most is the lights, particular the fact they are 2 piece. I think the pic below of my mk1 (non-vrs) compares more favourably mainly due to the colour.

Got to disagree the mk 1 looks so dated imo, the mk2 is infanately better looking and drives the same way light years ahead. Had the same feeling as Steve when comparing furby to mk1. New furby is still in system somewhere but after driving swmbo mk2 vrs all weekend, when the furby arrives, there could be some car swapping going on.

The thing is I don't really like the front of the mk1 or 2 however in profile the mk1 hatch is definetely the better looking of the 2 IMO.

I have to say that I didn't like the plastic grill on the new VRs and the bonnet is a bit BMW for my liking. But I'll still probably buy one when the time comes

i've said it before and i'll say it again... the new vRS just isnt aggressive enough at the front.

only colour i've seen the new one in that i liked was silver... then the blue.

sorry to anyone with a black one but the black doesnt show enough of the cars lines to detract away from all that front end plastic...

The MK2 headlight shape and the way the grill is integrated into the bonnet looks good....gives a much more cohesive look. Overall though it isn't bold enough....I guess Skoda didn't want to take too much of a risk and alienate it's traditional buyers.

Some bodykits for the MK2 make a better fist of the RS look...MS Design do a nice one...IMHO

MK1 looks dated because of grill treatment and shape of headlamps.....the twin projector lamps make a big improvement though.

Eddy's car looks good and the eye brows work well on a black car.

Where the MK2 does improve is the dash...much classier IMHO.

i had the choice of buying a mk1 or mk2 vrs at the end of last year and decided on the mk1.i agree, the mk1 looks way more agressive and i don't know why but the mk1 looks far better in the flesh than in photo's.

Someone better design an aggressive and powerfull bodykit for mk2 that should have been done at the factory allready. The only difference comparing to the normal Octy is the badge IMHO. Really lame.
