| I guess these are the LHD demo cars that will soon be doing the rounds of the UK dealer network.

| These are the cars we where hooning around millbrook today. FYI- We had some competitor cars there to drive Mondeo, Laguna, C5, Passat. All but the Passat where not nearly as nice as the Superb and the Laguna had to taken back by the RAC as it wouldn't start after one of the professional drivers took it out.

I found both the C5 and the Laguna seriously lacking in build quality. I found the C5 very gimmicking and had so many design features that I hated like the convex rear windscreen and the lights that have random lumps on them. The Laguna was also quite cramped in the back. The Mondeo on the up side had great steering and very impressive handling but again some of the materials used in the cabin just made the car feel slightly cheaper but they tried to make up for this with the sporty finish and the little screens and stuff. I was impressed with the Mondeo as it was much better than I expected but still when you compare the Mondeo Titanium X and the Superb Elegance the Skoda is a much better built car with better spec, although I would say that the Mondeo wins if you want a sporty feel and a sporty drive out of your large car.

Ford: Cheap, tacty interiors. i cant help but look for a "matsui" badge. the saloon boot access was pap, included the stupid disc changer option wich fills out the actuall boot opening enough to mean even putting luggage in would be tough without damaging the lining. the rear space was good, with good headroom. but the sdie blinds were tacky, the plastics hard and shiney. no proper spare wheel either. but it does look good and the drive is more sporty than the superb. Renault: terrible rear space, access and tottally crap head room! i wouldnt buy this car if you intend to carry anything taller than a midget! the front seats were comfy and quiet huggy in a sporty way. the hatch boot was pretty good but not as big as the superb. the drive was odd, the steering goes light when turning hard, feeling like its loosing grip when its not. cheap plastics again and the gearstick was orrid! Citroen: i love the look of the outside and the tourer version even more. the rear glass is very c6 retro. the multi function steering wheel has so many buttons that each car comes with a 12 year old boy with a ps2 pad to tell you what they all do. the front seats are brilliant, it was the VTR plus spec so supposidly racier in feeling. very digital display are nice, but i know from expierance they arent fool proof and can fail. rear leg room with the seats back is a joke and now they've gone all saloon the boot isnt what it used to be. but the opening for the saloon was better than the bmw and a little better than the saloon opening on the superb. drive was good, responsive and quiet sporty. not as solid feeling as the superb though. VW: they tried palming off a cheap spec'd passat but even that couldnt change the handling, it was bouncy, not composed, rough and had allot of roll. the dash looks like it came from a polo. rear access was good, but not superb standards. the boot was ok, but again the superb and c5 came out better.i imagine a better equiped one would do better, but as a passenger and a driver the superb was better. BMW: well it was a older version, basic spec, so crap. but even a top spec one has poor head/leg room, boot space good but not great. even the driving posisiton wasnt as good as bm's of old. i felt high up and pushed to far to the dash for comfort. RWD being its only saving ![]() if i were going for a big expensive looking car, with space and ride quality being high things. add a brilliant range of engines, plus some nice specs and interesting gadgets, i would defentley be buying the superb over any of the above. i would probably go for 1.8t elegance or 2.0crtdi for a good mpg vs perfromance balance. for a big car it handles with grace and a responsivness.

| Good feedback guys - very helpful. Took a new Accord out for a day last week - totally underwhelming car. Does nothing well enough to stand out and quality was not what the magazines are claiming. Tomorrows my day for the VIP viewing - looking forward to it even more now |

Please let us know what you think about the car as I'm interested to hear your opinion and I'm sure Dean also would like to know.

| Annoyingly not, as I would have liked to know what it was like. One things certain we'll sell more 1.4TSi than the 2.0 MPi in the old Superb.
