| Briskodian | Engine electronics light staying on Hi all, I thought i'd got away without having a problem for too long! I have a 1.8t and my Engine electronics light is staying on when starting my car, First happened when i filled up with fuel but thats probably coincidental, Looked in the hand book and it says that the management system selects an emergency programme so the car can driven to a Stealer by adopting a gentle style of driving but mine still drives the same, anyone got any ideas of what the problem might be, Also i towed a caravan for over 160 miles each way last weekend and was wondering if extra fuel burned for a longer time might effect exhaust sensors? Cheers BryanP |

| Re: Engine electronics light staying on Had same trouble with mine a couple of years back. Turned out to be a faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor causing the problem. Didn't affect the way it drove at all but the dealer replaced it under warranty.

I went to Farmers Skoda yesterday who plugged it in to ther diagnostic machine whilst I waited, they gave the bad news I expected, the exhaust Lamda sensor( correct me if thats spelt wrong) needs replacing at a nice cost of £220! its booked in for next Wednesday, they told me because the car hasn't gone in to safe maode its ok to drive as normal but if nothings done in the long run it will knacker the engine. This got me thinking, I've owned the car for just over a year now, its an 02 1.8t comfort and so far I had to have a new water pump at 40k, the water ingression problem and now this (all costly problems), After reading these pages it seems that Skoda has inherited alot of VW/Audi problems that rear there ugly heads after the cars are 3 or 4 years old, Do you think if JD powers did a survey on cars 3 - 4 years old that Skoda would fair as good as they normally do, I know mine wouldnt! | Re: Engine electronics light staying on Mine is also an 02 plate 1.8T and apart from the MAF sensor problem and a parking aid sensor problem (both sorted under warranty) and a rear door that refuses to unlock it's been faultless ??? Before owning the Skoda I drove Mazda's (626's) and never had to visit a dealer apart from servicing. The Japanese can teach most people a thing or two about reliability but ask me what my favourite car has been???? THE SKODA. Yes it has it's faults, yes it's costly to repair but it has something my Mazda's never had - class and charisma in abundance. People never commented on my Mazda's but they always do on the Superb.
