It's only a lube service so that's about spot on, all they do is replace your fuel filter, air filter, oil filter and oil?

Bill came to £289.32 !!!....apparently cost quoted was for "normal" oil, only other work done was new wiper blades and re-programming centrol locking for auto lock over 10mph...should be interesting to see cost breakdown when i pick it up !

WHAAAAT?!?!?!

Wiper blades should only be around £40 and the re-programming is a flat rate charge of £35 isn't it?

I have to admit to being a bit puzzled by the first service at 19k.

My 20k service cost £185 eventually (originally wanted £235, but we haggled!).

For the future, phone round all the Skoda dealers within reasonable reach of you. Then go back to your preferred dealer with the best price. We saved £50 by doing that. Oh, and when we needed wipers, we persuaded them to match the best price we'd found anywhere, so I think we paid just over £20.

Be interested to know what they charged you that amount of money for.

Chris

The oil is about right but I am not too sure about the labour? What is their hourly rate? Shouldn't take much longer than and 1 hour for a 'Lube Service'!!

Yes when I bought the 100tdi there was a choice of servicing schedule-10000 miles on 'normal' oil or 20000 on the long life, long life being quite a lot more expensive than normal. At the time I was doing 30k miles a year so went for the long life.(Cars are delivered from the factory with the long life oil)

Re: First Service (19k)

Just to confirm my car is using the more expensive long life oil, car at the moment is using a litre of oil every 5k, this according to Skoda technician, is because this oil is thinner, car has now done 20k so should be run in now, and, hopefully, oil consumption should come down.

Now I understand the different types of servicing available to the customer.
