Re: Front Parking Sensors

I've just looked at the Skodas UK website and they only list the rear sensors as an option at £190.
It seems you may have to go independant to get them fitted. I got some for our works Zafira..but cant for the life of me remember the company that make it...sorry

Re: Front Parking Sensors

Thanks Guys - will ask Dealer and if they can't help I think I know a man who can in Canterbury (Canterbury car Radio). I had rear sensors fitted by them on two cars a couple of years ago and both worked fine up to the day the cars were sold.

Thanks again.

Re: Front Parking Sensors

Quick update - Dealer has quoted £700 and canterbury Car Radio £300 to £350 depending on whether I have colour coded or not. A big difference and I think CCR will be getting the job.

Thanks for your answers.

Re: Front Parking Sensors

I have them on the front of my Octy (aftermarket ones not OEM) in heavy rain / snow etc they go off all the time.
Not sure if the OEM ones have a speed sensor that overrides the system above a certain speed, but if not, then think long and hard before opting for the front sensors.
My front ones are mainly turned off

Re: Front Parking Sensors

Thanks for the info Gizmo68 - I think you are correct as having looked at the cowson of a job to fit them I don't think it's worth it.

Regards

Re: Front Parking Sensors

I notice their listed for the Octavia at the Skoda accessories site for £150, but there not listed for the Superb. I'm sure they could be made to fit though!

However, interestingly enough the FRONT parking sensors desciption is:

Quote:
Product Details: Ultrasonic sensors are fitted into the rear bumper. When reverse gear is engaged an acoustiv beep will warn you about your distance from unseen obstacles increasing in frequency as you get closer.
So...I'm guessing their description isn't accurate?

I've never seen front parking sensors working but was considering them, could anyone who's used them shed some light...? Just how they get activated (not reverse gear I'd hope), and whether they get annoying when sitting in queues of traffic etc...?

Re: Front Parking Sensors

The front's on my old Octavia were always on with the ignition, so yep they do get VERY annoying - I wouldn't have front sensors again!

Re: Front Parking Sensors

I had an SMax for a short while with front (and rear) sensors.

Both were activated by engaging reverse, and stopped working above about 10 mph.

The fronts could be a pain in traffic, but there was a button on the dash to de-activate them.

Fronts and rears also had different frequencies - very useful in tight parking.

Re: Front Parking Sensors

Is there an option to deactivate front sensors on the Octy II?

Cool Re: Front Parking Sensors

only car I've driven with front sensors is a BMW 535d - now that's one seriously mean piece of kit - which was like the S-max above. The sensors come on when you select reverse and stay on unless you deactivate them by a switch.

just read the thread about the L&K. Seems to be available as a factory option, so order a new car!!
