| Gear Kn0b and Gaitor replacement Hello all... The paint/chrome effect has started to rub off quite badly on the gear kn0b. How easy is this to replace the kn0b and gaitor? Does anyone know if the 6pd gaitor/kn0b from the Mk II vRS would fit? Or of anything slightly different from the 6pd one that comes with the Superb I fancy a change if possible.. Cheers....

| Re: Gear Kn0b and Gaitor replacement I have got to order a new gear stick and gaitor but it also comes with the trim around the bottom so I don't think you will be able to fit your other suggestions?!? I had a price for a leather gear stick and leather gaitor with the trim for approx £60.....

| Briskodian | Re: Gear Kn0b and Gaitor replacement The gear **** is secured to the gear stick by a metal clip that gets sort of crimped at both sides to tighten it up. Release the gaitor completely from the console and lift it up. You can loosen this gear **** clip up a bit by using a couple of screwdrivers as levers - just enough to let you pull the gear **** up and off the stick. Then you will find that the gaitor is secured to the gear **** by a plastic ring - ease this down again using a couple of screwdrivers as levers. Swop gear *****, press the plastic ring back up into place, refit gear **** to stick and sort of crimp the **** retaining metal clip using maybe blunt face cutters - refit the gaitor back down onto the centre console. Ah, what a muppet I've used a word that could be rude!!!!! - I see that you were smarter than me!! |
