Re: Have anyone tried Weitec Coilovers

I know a lot of people using Weitec and they are a great kit.........wouldn't have any issues if I bought them for my Superb....

Correct... I was speaking to KW suspension about coilovers a few weeks ago. The Weitec's offer a slightly better ride, but their main disadvantage is that they're not made from stainless steel so they rust. KW coilovers are, so they don't...

Also, the price differential between Weitec and KW (variant 1) coilovers for the Superb means it makes sense to go for the KW's.

I was under the impression that KW offered Weitec as their cheaper brand? Is it the other way around?

The stainless steel issue is a big one when investing in cooilovers as adjustment in the future is always required which I have found out recently and had no problems adjusting the KW's....

No, you're right, Weitec is KW's budget brand. I'm not entirely sure why they are a softer ride, but this is also true of the lowering springs according to the guys at KW UK. That said, I've got KW springs on my Superb, and I can't really fault the ride - so it's not like they're harsh. At all. Even slightly. Not a sausage.

As for coilovers, the only difference between the KW and the cheaper Weitec items is the materials they're made of, ie the KW's are stainless. That's it

Re: Have anyone tried Weitec Coilovers

My Superb needs new coilovers and I tought either KW or Weitec.

KW has 30/30 lowering and that would be enough (must think wife also). But I'm wondering that is the car in good balance with 30/30 lowering? Or should I buy Weitecs 40/35 lowering?

With balance I mean that front and rear of the car would be the same height from ground.
Does somebody have 30/30 and maybe pictures?

Thanks.

30/30 seems a little low for coilovers, do you not mean springs? I'm sure the standard quoted drop is in the region of 20 - 80mm. I'm sure Baker or AwesomeSarah would confirm.

Anyway, my Superb's on 40/40 and I've got pics in my project diary. Link's in my signature, before and after lowering. Obviously ignore the photoshopped ones

Re: Have anyone tried Weitec Coilovers

As posted about 30/30 on coilovers? I wouldn't waste my money........

The KW Variant 1's on mine are quoted at lowering the car 35/65 however I have mine lowered all the way down at the front and it's much more than 35, the rear I have removed the adjuster blocks so it's as low as it will go but I am running 19's with a 35 profile tyre:

The front clearly looks higher but it's as low as it will go and on the road it looks like it's balanced as opposed to leaning forward......please also note that the picture isn't taken on level ground so it looks worse than it is......

Re: Have anyone tried Weitec Coilovers

I have weitec coilovers over on my octy vrs.

Cannot fault them.

As its been mentioned these coilovers are not stainless but galvanised instead.

Mine have been on 18 monthes and were adjusted easily last week with no sign of corrosion or rust

Re: Have anyone tried Weitec Coilovers

Baker's car looks great but it's way too low for my use.

Maybe all go with KW:s 30/30 springs and shock absorbers. Get little bit sporty to the car, but still can drive in snow and gravel.
