| Briskodian | Headlight Failure Hey All, Please can someone advise me. Turned on my lights earlier to drive home, to be greeted with the message on the display "lights failure" Also notice that my offside (dipped beam) bulb has failed. The lights I have are the non Xenon ones. My questions are: How easy is it to change this myself? & How much is the bulb likely to cost? Thanks in advance to all who answer. Regards SJ

| Briskodian | Re: Headlight Failure I'm not going to be too helpful as I haven't done it, but from speaking to a taxi driver recently he said it was quite tricky to do but you can do it yourself. Apparently the "proper way" to get to them is to remove the bumper (as there are brackets on the bottom of the lights) but you can do it with without removing the bumper. This could all be lies, but it was what I was told by my trusty superb taxi driver! I think the bulb cost is about a tenner (or possibly less) but to get it fitted at skoda would be considerably more! Cheers, Jim B |

This means that you have to take the bumper off to get access to all the headlamps fixing points before you can remove the headlamp and change the bulb. Now if your sidelight bulbs have gone then you can to a certain extent change these over but please bear in mind that it's not worth it unless you have small hands, LOL!! I changed my headlamps at the weekend for OEM Xenons and all in all the job took me about 30 mins, it's easy to get the bumper off and the headlamps but if your not so confident then pay a visit to the dealer? Or I am happy to describe what you need to do or meet me somewhere and I will change it in under 30 mins? Bulb wise, they aren't expensive at all.

| Briskodian | Re: Headlight Failure I have just changec my light bulb! Was a bit of a pig to get it out, but I removed the airbox cold air feed and a bit of plastic faring. I then removed the back of the headlight and then out with the bulb, a bit fiddly, but I managed it. took me about 30 mins in total, and the bulb cost about £7.50. Thanks for all the replies :-)

| Re: Headlight Failure You certianly dont need to remove the headlamp. And if you need to get the indicator bulb out there is an access flap in the wheel arch liner at the top. |

| Briskodian | Re: Headlight Failure Just a word on this - posted a thread a few minutes ago on it - MOT failed due to Xenon bulb not working but dealer says it is not the bulb but some wiring not connecting - they will take it in on Thurs to explore more - so your problem COULD be not the actual bulb? Hope this helps, Regards Mike |

| Briskodian | Re: Headlight Failure The bulb fillament was in pieces tho. So I know it was the bulb. Thanks for the idea tho, maybe if another one goes and its not the fillament ill be sure that is the fault, or a relay. I do not have Xenons.
