| How long can I keep going? Hi My superb elegance 2.8 V6 (petrol, tiptronic) will be 5 years old in March. It has now done 87K and the first owner did 70K in the 1st 3 years (75% on long motorway runs with a chaffeur!). It has been serviced at appropriate intervals and I love it! The question is: how long might I reasonably expect it to keep going? I am loathe to part with it! My annual mileage is about 7K, mostly out of town runs of 30+miles. If I were to trade it in for a more recent but similar model (say,06), what should I expect as p/x? Any indicators would be appreciated. Thanks |

| Re: How long can I keep going? Don't have any answers to the above mate but I have 138k on the clock and wondering how long I should keep mine aswell but every time I get to an MOT or Service and sort it fairly cheaply then I think why change it?!?!?

| Briskodian | Re: How long can I keep going? I had a petrol Passat before the Superb, which I still have. Wife using it atm as she prefers it to her own car for a lot of journeys. Mileage heading towards 240k; never had any major problems or items to replace; very reliable. Sale or PX value negligible, so I keep it for the times when something else is out of action. My motto is to keep a car I like as long as I can until or unless it becomes unreliable. The best financial strategy for a car like the Superb which has high depreciation but is reliable and can last a very long time. My Superb is the V6 TDI. I see no reason not to hope it will get to 300k and maybe more. |

| Re: How long can I keep going? Thanks all for the comments so far. I think the option is to keep it! There are only about 4 examples of this model on Skoda's Used Car list for the whole of the UK. They are never listed in the press up here so I guess they are something of a rarity. I noticed one for sale in Carlisle and it has its last reg number 5 digits up from mine. The mileage is smaller but they are looking for £8,995 which seems rather a lot. It is certainly a good bit more than I paid for mine two years ago! |

I tried to keep mine looking clean and simple and I would very much like to take it further but I do want it to be reliable and easy to maintain which currently it is.... The only problem I have at the moment is that I am getting my wheels refurbed hopefully next month (just looking to borrow some wheels at the moment) and then I have my Dragon Box to fit and then I will be looking to maybe change some bumper bits and pieces to get it looking even cleaner..... It's all down to money though in the end..............and I don't have that much spare anymore!!
