How well does the superb cope with small children

We have a baby on the way and was wondering if anyone has used the superb to transport a baby seat in the front(ie how do you deactivate the passenger airbags),and how well does the superbs boot cope with lugging prams in and out and all the other gubbins you need with a new baby.I should really buy a hatchback or estate but love my superb so much im really against getting rid of it!!!

My Octy 1 estate has a key switch to turn off the airbag. This was an optional extra - about £70 i think. Its in the glove box I think, although I have not used it so far, so will have to check!
I'm sure someone has mentioned that the Octy 2 has it as standard. Not sure about the Superb though - maybe check the handbook.

The boot is big but the access is a bit limited so shop around for stuff that fits

Not sure about the front airbag turning off.......there may have been an option from new, but failing that mum and baby go in the back

I looked at the Superb when I was in a similar situation to you and found that the boot access area was limited, as Rob says, for the majority of pushchairs, plus you have to take everything out to get to something at the back of the boot if you don't have the split rear seats

I ended up with a hatch which has much better access and also a larger load space

We also happily transport the baby in the back of the car as we found she just nods off once we're on the move. Well she used to! Now she's coming up to 6 months she's much bigger and more awake and we're starting to think about forward facing seats

I used to own an Octy 1 estate that used to swallow up nearly everything I threw at it, my Superb however is quite different. The boot is a fair size, and I have the split folding rear seats which are a big help, but it's the access that is the problem. I have managed to get cases in quite easily so something that folds flat (like a buggy) should be no more of a problem than any saloon. It has to be said though that a saloon, any saloon, just isn't as practical as a hatch or estate, mind you, they also look better too in my opinion so it's finding the compromise that you are willing to make. I doubt that many cars have the access to the backseat for getting the kids in and out that a Superb has, providing you have enough room to swing the back door open!

I've yet to find a pushchair that wont go in the boot of my Superb (taxi), some are a struggle though, especially the 3 wheelers with big wheels that look like them downsyndrome buggys.

The Superb also has special seatbelts for baby seats, the passenger side front and driverside rear(should be other side really), if you pull them all the way out you hear a ratchet clicking, then they can only go back in so lock the baby seat in place.
