| Included in the huge number of faults my 55 1.9 has, is a knocking from the front when I take bends. The knocking noise is not that loud and is directly proportional to speed. I took it to the dealer about a year ago, but of course they did nothing as it is under waranty. I can hear the knocking noise in a straight line if I listen - but at speed tt just becomes a constant noise as the knocks merge in to a continious noise. The near side front tire has worn on the outer edge as well - after having the wheels aligned - dont know if this is relevant. The knocking is louder after having increased speed / put the drivechain under load - particuarly on bends. Any ideas what the prob may be so I can tell the dealer how to do his job? PS - clutch now judders - any idea why / is this common. |

| Knocking could be a wheel bearing had similar with mine or CV joint, is it worst if you lock the steering and drive in a circle. Mass flywheel I'd say for clutch judder. |

| Knocking on lock is a symptom of worn outer driveshaft joints. Look behind each front wheel and examine the convoluted rubber boots protecting these joints. If there is any grease visible (it usually ends up on the inside rim of the roadwheel) the boots need changing. As your joint(s) are knocking, they must be replaced - don't let the dealer fob you off with just replacing the boot. Clutch judder is a B5.5 speciality. Mine did it a bit when I got it - a few really heavy towing sessions seems to have got it out of the habit. Try a few rapid starts with a (reasonable) amount of clutch slip and see if it improves. Unless it's really bad, I'd try to live with it - your car is unlikely ever to be the same again if a dealer removes the gearbox. rotodiesel. |

| Its worst when taking sweeping bends on motorways, slip roade, joining motorways after roundabouts. I can hear it all the time now - even in a straight line as my ear is tuned to the sound. What did you mean about the clutch? Cheers |

| I meant that when I first got my car at about 20k miles the clutch would judder slightly on take off. It was worst first thing in the morning when the clutch facings were a bit damp. I bought my Superb as a tow car and it does a lot of this. A heavy trailer is a bit hard on the clutch on take off but that's the car's job - it earns its keep. After a few towing sessions I became aware that the clutch now doesn't judder any more - with or without the trailer. rotodiesel. |

| Is it usual for the Superb to need new CVs / bearings after less than two years? It has has these problems since about 20K miles. (in fact, it has been riddled with problems since I got it and taking it near a Skoda dealer results in stress, time wasted and them damaging the car more - why, oh, why did I ever buy this car!) |

| A new CV joint will be required at any time shortly after the failure of the rubber boot. I can't fault the way these cars are assembled in the factory (other than paintwork) but the dealers leave a lot to be desired. It's possible that in the course of other remedial work, a dealer damaged the boot - have a look. Has any work been done in this area - brakes perhaps? rotodiesel. |

| I have replaced both of my CV boots and this was noticed as soon as the 'graphite grease' went all over my front wheels but my car is lowered and also has 135k on the clock so I am unsure how much of a hard time your car has had? Sounds to me like Rotodiesel has summed it up though, it's definately a CV joint that needs replacing and like he said, don't let the dealer just replace the boot, get the boot and the joint replaced......

| I am taking the car for a service shortly at Bognor Motors where I purchased the car (who are not a Skoda dealer and very good) and will get them to check it over. The car is fundamentally good, but Im sick of Skoda and their dealers who spend all their efforts in not sorting out problems. All the probs with the car are easily sortable, but Im left driving for 12 months with all the problems still there as the dealers can never find the problem. As I sais earlier, Im giving Skoda one more chance to do what they should under waranty - if they sort it I will be happy and when its out of waranty I will probably get an uprated clutch and get it chipped etc - if they continue to mess me about, Im selling and buying a Vectra. Skoda, when will you stop trying to destroy your business by having crap dealers? Every aspect of Skoda dealers is terrible in my experience - from the way they answer the phone to their sales staff. Its madness! |

Ref Remaps it will make the car a lot better but make sure you use a reputable tuner like Jabba, thers a lot of stuff on the Internet & people who offer to load something or other down from a lap top but you need someone with a good reputation & igf yopu can afford it get a custom map

| I'm having an issue right now, and the last suggestion from the dealer was to have the wheels aligned, at the time I thought nothing of it and it was a cop out, but I've noticed one tyre is wearing odd and a mate has had the same issue with his Octy so there could be something in it after all. |
