Perhaps because on the few occasions that I have driven the car on a motorway/dual carriage way in rain (moderate to heavy) the view out of the rear screen is very poor.

I don't suppose your magnificent example has been out in the rain, except to get some wonderful beading pictures (don't get the hump only joking)

Mine is a 'daily' mate so it's exposed to the elements just as much as yours I would imagine and I don't own a garage either......

Do a lot of motorway driving and just in my opinion a wiper on a saloon seems to have little use and looks daft.........a hatchback yes but a saloon no........just my 2p though........maybe it's a Skoda owner thing.........

I would be interested if anyone else has experienced problems with visibility through the rear screen in adverse (wet) conditions. With regard to a rear wash/wiper looking silly well I guess that's for the individual to decide. I don't think I am exaggerating the problem as my partner, who uses the car daily 100 miles daily average (mostly motorway) was first to comment on the issue. I am normally only allowed to drive the thing to the service station, usually when the fuel tank is nearly empty. Lol. But on a recent trip to Scotland I too experienced having a severely restricted view out of the rear screen in moderately wet conditions. the water tends to pool on the screen instead of running off, frequently defying gravity and moving upwards, I guess as a result of aerodynamic airflow (only guessing mind.) Hope that makes sense. Not withstanding that little problem and a couple of other little gripes, we both think it's a cracking motor

I don't have that problem at all on the motorway.
Maybe some rainx or glass polish on yours will disperse the rain better?

Just drive faster and then you're out of the way by the time the rain drops would have landed.

I try and clean the car every weekend. I use Autoglym glass cleaner on all the glass.

If you think it's not helping keep your view clear. Then maybe try another brand. Oh & always remember to apply while bone dry!

As far as the wiper on the rear windscreen. Industry standard seems to have been only hatchbacks till now. Weather we'll see one even as an option on the SuperbII? I'd have to say not a flaming chance in hell! Skoda even skipped these on some of the OctaviaI's in an attempt to position the car as more upscale. Yeah stupid but many people seem to think a sedan is more luxurious.

I do recall some Subaru Impreza's & Dihatsu Applause that offered a rear windscreen wiper with certain trim levels. Even though these cars were only sedans in those model years.

Re: Launch Photos of New Superb...

I have an Octy1 with no rear wiper and don't find it a problem. As soon as you get up to speed the water comes off and the rear heated screen helps at lower speeds.

No way! Check out the fold down back rest section of the passenger seat for putting ultra long things through. Bizzare!

RainX on the rear, and the sides for good measure. Works well enough for me. The pain is when it's been parked, or in nose-to-tail queues, and it rains - and then you need to reverse. Even the RainX isn't enough then. Well that's what sensors are for I guess .
Honda Prelude (not the last model, the one before - from late 1980s) nice looking car - with a rear wiper!

Re: Launch Photos of New Superb...

It's not here Rob, I just got a bit miffed elsewhere last night, and decided to take a net break, the other site is a great site, I just didn't appreciate being spoke to like a newbie spammer from the site Admin ppl, when your well known on site, you'd think they'd have the sense to PM rather than send a red card for something really trivial and all I was doing was to try to create a bit of interest because I feel the site is dying a bit lately, sad really, but hey ho as they say.
