Sadly I can't argue with that, but I think the next 5 yrs will show it to be a very underrated car and very popular once the money has fallen out of them.

As for the Phaeton rear, I wish it was more like the Phaeton myself.

Looking at the sizes, the Sup will be 20cm narrower and shorter roughly than the VW.

Re: Launch Photos of New Superb...

I told SWMBO the rear shot was of the new Renault Safrane.

I got a slap

I can't wait to see the combi. If it's even half good it's a strong contender for my next luxo barge

If the 3.6 FSI really can do 254km/h thats 158MPH, given that it's Czech will it follow the German "gentlemens agreement" of 155MPH?

Very BMW 7 series

The other angles look a bit unresolved, particularly the half-hearted attempt at a "hoffmeister" kink!

It's never going to have a 3.6 engine in it, lets not get silly now, it's a Skoda.

Skoda confirmed on the press release today that the top engine is 191KW. It is either 3.2FSI V6 or 3.6. Nobody seems quite sure and I can't find an engine with exactly that output in the Passat or A6.

Re: Launch Photos of New Superb...

A quick google shows 2 possibilities...
1st "the S2000 has a 2.0L 191kW/260hp engine."
2nd "3.0 TDI CR 165kW (225PS), 500Nm 191kW (260PS), 570Nm " that being a "Chiptuning VW Touareg"!!!

A little copy paste from Wikipedia...
EA113 / 827
The EA827 family was introduced in 1972 in the Audi 80 and eventually superseded by the EA113 evolution introduced in 1993. Both share the same 88 mm cylinder spacing. It was later updated with direct injection, to be topped by the 265 PS 2.0L TFSI. 40 million engines have been produced. It was replaced by the EA888 project introduced with the 1.8L TFSI below.

Re: Launch Photos of New Superb...

I think the size or lack of it of the boot panel where it meets the C pillar is ruining the look of it, it's got a kinda exec look that goes off in to mundane rep hatch ground, have to see it in the flesh to really get an idea.

And I've never been a fan of rear lights that encroach in to the boot panel.

Did you imagine 10 years ago that a Skoda would have a 2.8V6 or vRS models with turbo'd engines?

I think that it's a realistic possibility to get something 3.0 Litres Plus, the 2.8V6 isn't that fast on paper at least due to the size and weight of the car, and what with this one being even bigger, I think it could happen

See what you mean about the Vauxhall thing, think you mean the Omega though?

I still maintain it wont have anything as big as a 3.6 in it, I guess we'll see when it's released, I think people keep forgetting that it's a Skoda, a budget brand. No-one in there right mind would ever buy a 3.6 Superb, you'd have to be retarded.

I'm sure those wheels look familiar, Vectra SRi?

Don't forget the new 155kW 2.0 CR TDi, that's got to be a contender surely...????

That would be the perfect engine for me in one.

Re: Launch Photos of New Superb...

If I'm to get one it won't be for looks, as long as the DSG is in it and there is the rear leg still, it will get considered as my next one, is this a one only style? by one only I mean no dedicated saloon with a rigid rear window?
