| Re: Looking at a Superb Back on topic..if i may! I didn't go and see the 2003(03) Superb Elegance in Dumfries last week, something came up and I couldnt get there. However, on reflection there is no way I would pay £7K for a 5 year old Superb, even with low miles and a Skoda warranty. However good the car is the market doesn't like them, it would seem, so paying top money is unwise in my view. Couple that with my track record for not keeping a car for long and it is a recipe for financial disaster! I have decided I am in no rush to buy and will bide my time to get the right car. I had another look on Autotrader today and there was a very nice looking 1.9TDI Elegance, Nightfire Blue, 2003(53), 73,000 miles with fsh for £4990. Factor in a bit of bartering and a service and cambelt change I could have the car for probably £5000 on the road, a £2K saving over the (older) Skoda dealer car! - not to be sniffed at! After a few weeks of looking at the classifieds it is incredible how many of the same cars are for sale. None seem to be selling! |

| Re: Looking at a Superb have to say that is a good price and the car looks good. I would post the exact link but I cannot get the website to fully open. I think that is a realistic price given that they are a slow seller. It is on this site Town and Country 4x4 |

Be careful, if it is genuine it looks a reasonably nice car, but the leather on the drivers seat is scrunched and worn through, normally takes about 120-150k miles to do this to the seat and it suggests a lot of in and out has been going on, i.e taxi, the dealer should not be held up for this though it could be if it is clocked it was before he bought it. A couple of pointers for you, look at the grab handles, if they look new then they probably are, if the rear ones are really beat up then lots of ppl wearing rings have been in and out of it, and check the rear door jambs, lots of scratches will be evident if it's been a cab, and always look underneath for overspray. | |

![]() Thanks Superbia, good advice. As for the price? Yeah, it seems good. I'm aware that the Superb is a slow seller and I certainly didn't buy it as an investment - I just thought mine was worth about £4.5k, which is why I'm depressed ![]() So, swap for a Montego, anyone?

| Re: Looking at a Superb If you look on ebay/autotrader they start at around the £3K mark for the v high mileage classics (Obviously taxis!). There are some pretty decent looking 1.9 TDI Elegances which start at around £5K (the one I saw above) and quite a few I have seen around the £6-£7K (53 - 05 plates). Ebay has quite a few 'classifieds' and there are a couple that pop up which are clearly private cars selling on an auction format. However, I do believe the reserve prices people are putting on them are unreasonable high. Have to say I think this one is v nice (auction format) Unusual sliver and ivory leather colour combo. I made a v low cheeky bid, but I think he will do well if he gets £5800. 2004 SKODA SUPERB ELEGANCE TDI SILVER on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 26-Sep-08 20:00:00 BST) I also like this one a satnav 05 plate 2.0 TDI elegance with a low 36000 miles. One of the advert pictures has it for sale at £13995 !!! It looks like a Skoda dealer. The ebay user name is cascabs aalarm bells ringing there! Skoda Superb 2.0L TDi Elegance 06 plate on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 27-Sep-08 20:30:00 BST) My local Skoda dealer has a very nice DSG 1.9TDI Elegance in Flamingo Red, 05 plate with 18000, he is asking a particularly unreasonable £11995 - he must be on hallucinogenic drugs because I reckon that is about £3000 more than it is worth. Skoda Superb 1.9 TDi PD 130 Elegance 4-Dr Saloon Anyway, my strategy is going to be to 'keep my powder dry' , play the waiting game and see what comes along. Given the current market forces I think I will aim to pay no more than £5.5K for the right car with the right spec at a good price. ![]() |

| Re: Looking at a Superb Hi I'll be more than a little surprised if that local dealer has a DSG 1.9 - tiptronic maybe, but not DSG. And the auto box coupled with the 1.9 is s..l...o...w... Good colour though - Flamenco Red! cheers
