I can squeeze about 40 quid in with the magic button pressed in, and about 40-50 to the gallon with a remap, filter and cupra intake depending of what driving mode i am in.

Don't have a PD130 so can't help there

Filled my Octy up today - according to the computer I had about 20 miles range left. It took £41 worth (without forcing it ) which at Tesco prices is about 50 litres. I would have thought that a Superb would have a bigger tank.

Have to confess I don't actually work out the MPG, but I check and reset the computer each time I fill up. It's usually saying around 47mpg. I reckon to get 500 miles on £45.

Fuel Consumption

I have a PD130 Tiptronic, so the consumption won't be the same as the manual.

In my experience, the computer isn't the most accurate guide on the economy. Last time I calculated it myself, it worked out around 45mpg for general trundling around, so those with the manual box should be getting better.

Declared capacity is 62 litres, so should cost around £50 to fill up.

Brim to brim (venting the tank to allow this) I normally get around 60-62 litres in the tank, and averaging 40-42 around town, or 48-58 on a run.
This isnt computer figures, its the brimmed tank in litres times 0.22, then using that figure to divide the trip mileage by.
Of course, trip is reset at fill up time, and use the same Shell garage every time.

That help you?

I've only filled mine once, and it cost just over £50 with cheap petrol at Morrisons.

Its not a PD130, so hearing about someone getting 47 mpg is just astonishing, on mine the computer tells me that I average 15.5 mpg on my short journey to work, and on a longer trip through town today I managed a massive 25.8!

Just read the technical brochure on my desk, it says the tank holds 55 litres

So with venting the button can you really get another 7 litres in? (almost 2 gallons)

Hate to confuse you but my brochure as backed up by physical evidence says the tank capacity is 62l. Considering I have managed 63l before, I think the book is correct.

The difference in capacity is probably in the pipe down to the tank, that probably holds a few litres.

What is this button that people are venting?

The usual VW group tank vent cap.
Its almost at the end of the filler tube, at 9 oclock. A spring loaded cap that allows faster and more efficient venting of the fuel tank
