| New car addition Some may recognise me as the owner of a rather loud yellow Octy vRS pushing out what at the moment is the highest torque figure for a 1.8T (at 375 ftlb - though waiting to see what Des produces with his new engine). Anyhow, along with this thoroughly non-sensible choice of transport, I have recently purchased a Superb (or Supreme as my other half initially referred to it ).It is a 1.9 TDI 130PD Comfort with full leather (inc. ar*e warmers all round ) plus a few other useful bits and bobs, electric sunroof (assuming not standard), parking sensors, cruise control, multi function steering wheel, auto-dimming rear view mirror) etc. Anyway, unlike the harsh riding noisy Octavia, it is such a pleasant place to be and relatively involving around the corners too. The engine is strong enough and I'm impressed with all the little extra thoughtful bits. Not planning on any mods to the car (though I love the lowered stance of the Baker wagon). Now spoilt for choice as to which car to turn up in when it comes to Skoda meets/shows

| Re: New car addition Yes, really clean particularly inside. No scuffs on the bumpers, very little in the way of stone chips and only a couple of minor car-park dings in the doors. Oh and I saw your Octy up the corner not for sale though I assume!

| Re: New car addition Stay away from the 56/07 Nightfire demo, I tested it a few mths back and it isn't right. I really wanted this car to be one to brag about, the Vx slayer if you like, but sadly and mainly let down by Skoda's attitude towards fixing things it isn't. |

| Re: New car addition Welcome to the armchair club as some would say Whatever they say we find the Superb a fantastic motor, it just eats the miles effortlesly, no squeeks or rattles. An incredibly under rated car IMO. If you ever have the need to race to the South of France or Spain etc you will find it an absolute joy. The handling actually isnt that bad either, weve taken it to the Alps in Winter & it was fine despite being 4 up with all the winter gear & a nutter ![]() at the wheel

| Briskodian | Re: New car addition Despite my comments about the dealers, I have to agree. The Superb (4 cyl diesel) is a brilliant motorway car - which is one of the jobs my car has to do. In my area, the Superb is definitely catching on as a taxi - lots around now. No other privately owned ones though! rotodiesel. |

| Re: New car addition Not the only area either..........Banbury now has around 5 Superb's that are being used as Taxi's........the 6th Superb however will remain as a 'Pimp's Ride'.....LOL!!

Was driving from midlands down south at weekend and past 3 others along the M40/A34 (none were taxis) probably a record for the most sightings on the same journey. And yes, it is top motorway cruiser; low wind noise, weighty steering, substantial braking if needed, and a lofty but relaxed driving position.
