| Briskodian | New Owners early impessions We have had our Superb 2.0lt Elegance Black magic for exactly one month, and have managed to clock up 2700 miles in that time. We have just returned from a week in Argyll that contributed nearly 1400 of those miles. When we first got the car we thought it was wonderful, nothing much has occurred to change that first impression. After first picking up the car within minutes of leaving the Dealers (Marlborough) the DPF warning light came on. It disappeared after five minutes and has yet to reappear. On our Scottish trip we managed 48.5 MPG the cruise control was set at 70 MPH for the majority of the journey, with the occasional burst of speed. At 70 MPH the Rev. Counter indicates just 2000 Revs. On Sunday I had a little trip down the M27 to Hedge End. Traffic was light so I set the CC to 60 MPH and achieved a staggering 50.9 MPG another couple of miles I would have got 51. (lol) O.k so what don’t I like. Not much really. Both my partner found the front seats a little uncomfortable on the long trip, both suffering from mild back pain. Not sure the six speed gear box is necessary. The DPF issue will continue to cause concern. At present we are thinking we will change cars before the warranty expires. What I find really disturbing is the impression I get from Forum members of the poor service received from Skoda Dealerships and the lack of support from Skoda UK. This is the main reason for thinking of changing before the end of the warranty. At the moment we are very happy with the car. Incidentaly in four weeks and 2700 miles we have seen many, many Octavia and Fabias but only three Superbs. I don’t know if that should be viewed as a good or bad thing with a view to selling that is. |

| Re: New Owners early impessions The DPF will play up whatever brand of car you buy, it's a flawed technology right now, the seats shouldn't be a problem, have you adjusted the supports to suit you? I'm a believer that Skoda dealers aren't as bad as we think, it's Skoda UK that causes the problems by holding back with the payout to to the dealers for required works, one thing is for certain though, you won't buy anything other than a Sonata for the money with the spec and size, and kudos says the Superb will be viewed as a car where the Hyundai will still be viewed with undeserved scorn. |

| Briskodian | Re: New Owners early impessions I'm glad you are pleased with your new Superb - I'm still pleased with my old one. I don't want to play the numbers game on fuel consumption, and your car may still have a tight engine but its fuel consumption is not exceptional. My 1.9 (AWX engine) will comfortably exceed an indicated 60 mpg with the cruise control set to 70 mph on a long motorway run. It's a tragedy that Euro IV has clobbered these figures. A 5 speed box is all that the car needs - the engine torque band is so wide that more gearchanges are an unnecessary chore. The top gear ratios are very similar for the 5 and 6 speed units. The dealers really do need to be watched. There is little profit on the cars and a lot on the subsequent "work". They therefore make it their business to find "work". I have outlined many of their scams on this site, but a good one is "new disks and pads (rear) at 20k miles". The pads will be shot at this mileage, but there is very little wear on the disks - remove the rust lip and off you go. Enjoy your new Superb. rotodiesel.
