Angry Poor paint quality

Is it the bad roads of lincolnshire or is it the paint quality on my 52 plate superb,
It chips so easily, had dozens of cars and never had this problem before.
Every time i go out i find a new stone chip(flippin peed off).
tried autoglym and meguires polishes and hard wax's but to no avail.
gonna cost a fortune to repair all the chips.

PLZ HELP

Re: Poor paint quality

I have to be honest and say that I thought the paint chipped easily but then my 52 plate Superb has done 108k so I am guessing it's the mileage?

How many miles has your motor done?

Wink Re: Poor paint quality

I've never been convinced by the idea that polish will prevent stone chips, the problem is usually a sharp piece of granite hitting the car at 60mph, a thin sliver of polish over the paint can't make much difference.

The best idea is to leave a bigger gap between you and the car in front, that way the stones hit the ground instead of your paint. My 52 plate silver superb has done nearly 60k, and has no more than half a dozen chips on it, but I always leave a big gap between me and the car in front thats slowing me down

Re: Poor paint quality

Mines done nearly 110,000 miles now, only one stone chip and its in the chrome grille surround rather than the actual paint itself, looks like a bloody boulder hit it!!

So I wouldn't have thought theres a problem with the paint?

Re: Poor paint quality

My old Leon was a nightmare! A bag of crisps hit it one day and took the paint off half the wing (slight exageration) My 53 plate Superb's done 50k and I don't think I hav one stone chip yet.

Re: Poor paint quality

The paint is too soft, on all cars nowadays. My VW vans look like major dot to dot unless the touch up stick is used, and replaced when it runs out.
So it's not just your car.

Re: Poor paint quality

Chips are not to much of a prob with my car, but everyday I find new scratches on it , no drive way so street side parking for me,, but I do feel that the paint is very soft on this car , Titan grey, so the scratches show ur quite clearly on it

Re: Poor paint quality

T-Cut your the stone chips as best you can to hide them, give the car a good polish and then have it SilverSealed on the outside, that should improve the current appearence and help protect you against further chipping.

Re: Poor paint quality

Modern paint has to be water-based, so it can be more liable to chip than older ones, but all cars suffer the same
