Prices

Dont suppose anybody has any ideas of what sort of price the new superb will start from? The pictures at the geneva show look awesome and soooo luxurious. I was planning to buy a new octy but if the price of this car is reasonable i might just have to wait.

Re: Prices

Showroom tax, what a laugh, isn't that what VAT is already, how much longer do we have to wait for this muppet to call an election, I used to support him thinking of him in his early days with John Smith, but now he just looks like a smug anti christ to me.

Re: Prices

Don't forget that until about 1990 (?) cars were subjected to a 10% tax surcharge ON TOP of the VAT price. I think this is a dead cert .

Re: Prices

How much longer are we going to put up with it?

We already pay more for our cars than most other countries, we have some of the most expensive fuel prices of any country in the world AND we pay road tax and VAT on new cars and now 'showroom tax'. The motorist is a very easy target because most of us cannot get to and from work on public transport and therfore have to use our cars.

It's time a pro-motoring group was formed to put REAL pressure on the government to change things. Can you see the French putting up with such treatment? They'd be holding protests all over the country!!

RANT OVER.

Well it looks like you were right, now just wait to see showrooms folding all over the country because nobody other than the fleet guy is selling anything, this may even cause companies to hold on to their fleets longer now, well done Labour, increase what you should decrease to get a better volume sale revenue from and watch everybody stop buying, how the rest of the world must laugh at us with these policies of kill your own economy, if they had an ounce of decency they'd call an election asap and let someone who knows what they are doing form a new government, sad to say I was warned about Labour before 1997, my head was full of anti Tory sentiment placed there mainly by the media, but on reflection, Labour inherited a hard worked for good economy and have run it into the floor, and now the wallet is empty they have no idea how to deal with it, and it will take another government at least 10 yrs to get things back to a healthy state.

Re: Prices

I could not agree more - morons all of them just thinking of lining their own pockets and hittingb the pocket of motorists because it's an easy target. The truth is that public transport is a joke and still expensive!!!
