SatNav does not like motorways!

Hello everyone.

Superb 2.5 TDI 07 reg. 2007 disk in sat nav

No matter what settings i choose, my sat nav wants me to leave the motorway at the next junction and go for a 2 hour ride for a one hour journey.

Any ideas?

In the navi settings you have it set up to not go on motorways........

Re: SatNav does not like motorways!

Most likely it is an "avoid motorways" setting or similar. But here are alternatives:

The route planner is set for planning the shortest route and not the quickest route

The motorway in question was refurbished and partly closed when the map was frozen for your CD/DVD, and therefore the speed on this part of motorway was lowered in route planner.

And of course the obvious one- the motorway is not on the map in your satnav.

Agree - almost certainly your system is set to avoid motorways. I experienced this when I first got the car (it was also set to avoid tolls I think).
In my opinion the way the options are selected, it looks more like an option is not selected, when in fact it is, and vice-versa. Basically, pretty lousy graphics and not the most user-friendly interface. Swap th e selection over for motorways and you'll probably be OK.

cheers

Lets face it the technology is fairly old but I would rather have an OEM fitted Sat Nav than some 'toy' stuck on the windscreen............

Any reason for the patronising comments?

Re: SatNav does not like motorways!

Hi Guys,

Thanks you all for your comments. Please note I am not being patronizing when I say I am fairly well aufait with technology. The M56 and M66 have been around a long time now. I have tried the multitude of options in the settings none of which makes any difference. I have attempted to use the save settings when I have changed the options but I am not sure if that works or not as it does not seem to indicate what change if any has taken place.

Oh well I guess it is back to the dealers for a repair. On a positive note, it works fine when I am off the motorway and need to find where I am going.
Just need to learn how to use a motorway

Best wishes
