| skoda superb PD 140 COMFORT 6SPD I decided to go to my local dealership and get a price for exchanging my facelift superb and upgrading it for the new superb TSI 160 DSG. My first reaction was of dissapointment, as the price they quoted for my superb which has 18500 miles on the clock was way below what i was expecting, as they supplied the car, and maybe foolishly i thought they would give me a pretty good p/x value on the car. Well ive decided to keep my present car, and continue to keep her in tip tip condition and wait for my inheritance!! then i'll p/x it for maybe the next generation of superbs lol.....having sat in the new model, plush it was,..i dont think i can part with my facelift comfort....having fussed over it since new, and servicing her regularly, she hasnt let me down, the car is still new looking and people still ask me what she is like to drive and ask general questions about ecconomy and maintenance, not forgetting the fact the car is already very comprehensivley equipped and drives very smoothly indeed. So although dissapointed with not being able to do a deal on the new model, the thought of being offered a paltry sum for my present car, and then see it stuck on the forecourt for say 4k more didnt appeal to me. It makes me wonder why present owners of skoda's arent offered a higher value p/x for being loyal customers compared to say someone who turns up in an old banger, and basically get the same deal...thats another new skoda they havent sold!! |

| Re: skoda superb PD 140 COMFORT 6SPD Laughable isn't it, when they talk money they want a full bag, when it comes to your turn they talk as little as possible. My car has in 15 mths gone from an 11k asking price to a 4.5k px valuation, even allowing for the fact I didn't pay 11k for it I would still lose nearly 5k on it if I was silly enough to swap it in, the fact it had done the 3 yr dep thing before I got it should really have seen it's px value today as about 6k. |

| Re: skoda superb PD 140 COMFORT 6SPD well when i went to the local skoda dealership he actually asked me if i had any idea what i thought my car was worth......so i said well i was hoping you would tell me like......he went away and when he came back he said 9k......and from then on i thought blow this, he would put it up for say 12k or more and i be left way out of pocket. so all in all, although i rather liked the new superb, and was thinking of a dsg model as my wife has trouble walking these days, ive decided to keep the car i have. And if i win the lottery by some freak chance i wont be going back to my local dealership......probably give another branch my business. |

| Briskodian | Re: skoda superb PD 140 COMFORT 6SPD Not sure where you are based, but my costs to change have always been very favourable. Glasgow / Ayrshire dealers are maybe more generous. Does take a little while though and some direct questioning (ie why they think they can offer less than book for a car which can go straight on their forecourt since they've serviced it), and it has helped me to have a well presented car which is within the approved used mileage levels and age. (60k 5 years) I guess it also helps when you go shopping. Try them again around or just after christmas and you might see a different story

| Re: skoda superb PD 140 COMFORT 6SPD im based in hampshire burnsey.....there are 3 skoda dealerships within a30mile radius, one in southampton, one in fareham and one in winchester....there is another dealer in chichester, but i think they sell the 2nd hand cars rather than the new ones. come to think of it,i'm convinced a skoda dealership who sells nothing but skoda's is probably a better place to try and do a deal for a new superb. The one i went to does skoda, mitsubishi and another brand, cant for the life of me think what the car is, but i feel they try to sell as many cars as possible and at the same time, the customer ( me ) felt slightly let down by the ridiculous price offered for my car against the 1.8 tsi superb S model. I know they have overheads and wages to pay blah blah blah...but a little more money offered might have swayed myself and my wife who really does need an auto, as she finds it increasingly difficult to change gear quickly. But at the end of the day, i feel iof they really wanted business they would have pulled a few stops.......buying 4 cars from them still didnt produce an increased offer....so next time im going to go to a skoda dealership who sells nothing but skoda's |

| Briskodian | Re: skoda superb PD 140 COMFORT 6SPD Location probably explains it. Having holiday'd down that way the cost of living was pretty high, and so they'll have pretty high margin per vehicle at the moment. I also saw quite a few luxury 2nd cars down there at really very reasonable prices, I guess the car supermarkets round the M25 doesn't help the prices round there. At least up here there is a distinction between a superb and a mondeo, perhaps not down where you are. Goodluck - you can always try selling it privately????
