| Superb TDi ECU Hi everybody! I am new to this forum, having recently bought a 52 Superb PD130 Classic. I have what appears to be a nastily common problem that has only shown a simple symptom: interior lights. I bought the car three weeks ago, and the courtesy lights (roof mounted) do not work when the door opens. The foot-well lights and the puddle lights work, so I assumed that this is some simple programming issue. A friend of mine in work bought a 52 Passat recently and had the same problem, he has just spent £500 swapping the ECU under the passenger seat. Is there a way to fix this without swappng the ECU out completely? Also does this ECU control anything other that the interior lights? I am concerned as the car is used to commute 75 miles everyday - reliability was the key purchase issue - though I have begun to realise what a fanatic car this really is! I apologise if this is a common thread, I just can't find the definitive answer. Thanks in anticipation! Ian (Jagman1982) |

| Re: Superb TDi ECU It's not something i have heard of to be honest Ian. Are there any fault codes that lead you to your conclusion or are you summising and assuming the worst?

| Re: Superb TDi ECU Hi Stu, I am summarising as I know the problem exists in the Passat and the A6 which are closely related to the Superb. I am currently trying to find a specialist who can diagnose any electrical faults in the system, but don't really wanna go to my local Skoda dealer as they are less use than a chocolate tea pot!! I just wondered if anyone has any experience.... Many thanks Ian |

| Re: Superb TDi ECU I would think there is water in the passenger side footwell. This is a very common issue and one well covered on here especially with regards to the interior lights. If for example your interior lights, boot light and glove box light arent working but your rear map reading lights are if more than likely a 'node' joint on the wiring loom in the passenger side rear footwell. It will have water in it and will have corroded away. |

| Re: Superb TDi ECU That's the area I was aiming at Ross. Before you go all out and part with 500 Large check a few things out first.

| Re: Superb TDi ECU Hi, thanks for the info; I have just had to lift the carpet to change the carpet clips (I now know you dont need to lift the carpet!) I cannot find any damp in the foot wells, could this all be a setting within the ECU itself? Cheers Ian |

| Re: Superb TDi ECU Mine had the same problem, which I pointed out to the garage the other day (picked it up today ![]() They fixed it, and they said it was a loose connection, but my car is ex-police, so could have just been disconnected when they had blues and two's fitted/ when they removed them lol Chris |

| Re: Superb TDi ECU Thank you all very much - I have at last had the fault fixed. It was the pollen filter housing seal broken and water had got in to the wiring joint. It only took the dealer about 3 hours to fix apparently - and they fixed under the warantee! Cheers guys E |
