Cool Trevor K

My new superb doesnt set the alarm system properly and the garage have checked and told me it is a fault in the "convenience system". They will take the car in and sort it for me.

I am curious. Can anyone tell me what the "convenience system" is and what it does?

Trevor

Re: Trevor K

The convenience system is best known for its functions in allowing all the electrically operated windows and sunroof to be opened or closed together using the driver's key lock or remote as described on pages 52 to 54 of the Superb Owner's Manual. It is an electronic control unit which, in addition to controlling the above, also controls central door locking including auto lock and unlock, interior monitoring (alarm), key adaptation, lock and unlock horn, lock and unlock blink, and alarm horn and maybe more.

Re: Trevor K

Denis,

You mean there is a manual for the owner that describes the vehicles functions and systems and how to operate them?

How strange.

Re: Trevor K

Thanks for the help Denis. That explains a lot of things

By the way, Lummox, the manual is fascinating, great bath time reading, but sometimes more for what it leaves out than what it includes.

In my case the manual explains that when you set the alarm the red light in the drivers door will flash fast and after a while slow down. My flashed fast but never slowed down. The manual doesnt explain why. My experience with a previous Audi A6 reminded me that. when this happens, the system has found a problem (most likely one of the sensors is showing a fault) and that is why I took the car back to the garage. But I wonder how many other people have a fault but dont recognise it?

There are other minor bits in the manual which dont seem to apply to the car, but these are for later

All the Best

Re: Trevor K

At least 2 of our Octavia-owning members have had to have their car's central convenience controller replaced in the recent past to sort out central locking problems.
