| Briskodian | Vag-com error messages...Any idea what's happening?? Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and have been lurking around for the past 3 months getting to know all about the superb from you experts as I've recently just taken delivery of a new 1.8T tiptronic petrol version of the superb in april. I must say this a great ride considering the price we pay here in Singapore, but recently, I've been having this problem with my ride and I'm hoping if someone in this forum can shed some light as to what may have gone wrong...(warning...this may be a long note...apologies )Whenever I start the superb up after leaving it alone for upwards of 3-4hrs, I get the whole gear selection indicator lights on the console lighting up whenever I engage a gear, from P right across to gear 2 and the car would then give a shudder as if the entire gearbox is locked up. I have to shut down the engine, push the gear selector back to P, start the engine again and quickly select N. The cgearbox takes about 10sec before the N is lighted and everything is back to normal. A Dyno done on my ride indicates that I have lost almost 20% of the stated bhp and torque ratings that the superb is capable of Anyway, from a borrowed Vag-com, the following fault codes were found. VAG-COM Version: Release 512.4-UD Control Module Part Number: 8D0 927 156 DD Component and/or Version: AG5 01V 1.8l5VT RdW 1314 Software Coding: 00103 Work Shop Code: WSC 26066 1 Fault Found: 17090 - Transmission Range Sensor (F125): Implausible Signal P0706 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent VAG-COM Version: Release 512.4-UD Control Module Part Number: 8E0 614 111 B Component and/or Version: ABS/EDS 5.3 FRONT D10 Software Coding: 0273004283 Work Shop Code: BB 24332 2 Faults Found: 00290 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Left (G46) 35-10 - - - Intermittent 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Right (G44) 35-10 - - - Intermittent The faults were cleared with the Vag-com but the problem with gear selection still persisted. Anyone knows what needs to be changed out by the local agent here and whether is this a common occurance in the superb or other Vag cars in general? Thanks again all for bearing with this extremely long note and I do hope someone can shed some light on this problem with my ride... Paul |

| Re: Vag-com error messages...Any idea what's happening?? The ABS wheel speed sensor ones are the result of your dyno exploits - front wheels spinning at speed, rear wheels stationary - so you can forget about those 2. Can't help with the other one though, sorry.

| Re: Vag-com error messages...Any idea what's happening?? The ABS faults are simply because its been on a rolling road so dont worry about them. The gearbox fault (indicated by all the gears lighting up on the display) looks like its down to the selector switch on the gearbox (F125). The fact its showing an implusable signal either means its a) Out of adjustment or b) a faulty switch i'd say. The gearbox ECU gets the signal from this switch so it can tell which gear you have selected. But as it stands its not sure so I think it has to wait for a speed signal to try and work it out. Because of this the gearbox goes into limp home mode, hence the lit up display. |

Just for interest to those out there facing with the same problem...The agent changed out the trasmission sensor as it was indeed faulty. so problem's solved. sent the car for dyno but am still down by about 20bhp from stock although torque is back up till close to stock at 200Nm... more troubleshooting to do...Hmmm, could it be due to the new DV that I had fitted? will know more this coming sat.
