Sounds to me like they didn't replace the CV joint at all... either that or they didn't do it correctly. Of course, I'm assuming you mean the CV joint boot was broken on the same side

As for a lemon... sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. I had a (sorry) Vauxhall which was exactly the same a while back, had loads of parts replaced under the warranty and was in the garage more then I had it.

Traded it in for mum's Fabia VRS though

In my experience genuine lemon cars (from day 1) are rare - they're mass produced items.

What tends to happen is that a lemon is produced by the dealer network. A newish car will go in with some trivial fault and be bodged by the dealers' unskilled and disinterested labour force and thus suffer consequential damage. Further visits for remedial work then merely compounds the problem.

Yes, I largely agree. I had a Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD once (a big mistake) that went in at 1 week old for 3 faults and was returned to me with 4 new faults 2 days later. It was downhill from there on for 18 months till I was really forced to get rid due to unreliability. Never again a Jeep.
