Water ingress

Hi
I have had a Superb Comfort 07 for three months now.
This week on a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales I discovered a large amount of water in the rear, near side foot well. It does not seem to be associated with the door seal as with the FABIA.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem.

blocked drain holes down near the pollen filter, water leaks in past the pollen filter and into the car, get it sorted before the water causes convenience wiring problems

take it back to the dealers and get them to sort it out......a new car shud remain dry regardless the amount of water thrown at it..unless you end up in the drink.....there's a thread on the superb forum somewhere that actually shows you how to do it yourself.regards andy

If you have a B5.5 Passat/Superb remove the bungs under the battery tray and servo vac chamber. Check or preferably reinforce pollen filter seals. Clean plenum chamber annually. Never park under trees or in the rain facing uphill. Keep car under cover.

An unbelievably crappy design which has cost people a lot of money. It was very well known on the Passat and the morons at VAG did nothing about it when the Superb came along.

This, a few other c0ck ups and the UK VAG representation mean that my present VAG vehicle will be my last. It's a shame, the factory in the Czech Republic have done a good assembly job and the 1.9 diesel is a cracker. VAG will have no more of my cash - Japanese diesel next time.

Hello. Skoda have issued instructions on sealing etc. Mine has been in for nearly 5 weeks!!!! to be rectified. interior stripped,leak sealed, new module and wiring repaired...........
Get it sorted as quick as you can.

I've just found the first signs of this in mine. Having just had a number of other problems fixed.

Anyway, as I'm, er, desperate can anyone get a copy of that Skoda technical bulletin for me? Failing that, is there a how to somewhere? I've searched and I can't see anything obvious...

BTW, anyone had their battery disconnected on their Superb for a period of time? I'm wondering about the effect on the immobiliser, etc.

If the vehicle is a auto get the dealer to make sure the gearbox ecu and wiring is dry have come across problem where the water wicks it way to the drivers side foot well (where the gearbox ecu is located) got to the gearbox electrics and locked the gearbox in third gear which killed it !!!!!! very expensive repair if car is out of warranty so well worth checking if you get this problem!!

A mate at work had this problem on his 05 Superb, dealer diagnosed the problem as blocked pollen filter.

Result was new carpets and underlay, also all door seals were done as a precaution.

I managed to remove the two drain bung thingys under the battery and brake servo without removing anything! Very bendy hands! Next job - as I did on my last Superb is to take out the pollen filter and associated housing and seal with silicon.

As for cleaning the plenum chambers etc, I do this as frequently as once every month or two.

Prevention is better than cure....

So to seal it, you just run silicone in the gap between this plastic tray and the bodywork?

Having done a water test this seems to be where the problem lies. The water runs down the screen and over the top of the filter - I've cured that problem by drilling a couple of drain holes on the front side of the filter housing - but I'm wondering about the silicone sealant.

If this is the right place let me know - I'll get some sealant tomorrow

That's the one, after the bolts come out, take it out, I removed that foam crap under mine and ran three beads of silicon where the foam was, three times the protection!

Just be careful putting it back, as they can crack, and I know one of the nuts, the one by the bonnet hinge is a b@stard to get in.

Oh and dont forget the gutter on the top of the pollen filter, that runs under the windscreens lower edge, break that, and the whole thing will leak, it will come out, just needs some gentle persuasion.

Reading your post again, where exactly have you drilled it? as that may be a problem waiting to happen.
