Water inside boot

Hi All

I wonder if anyone has had this problem

I have a 55 Superb Elegance and I have noticed that on each side of the inside of the boot there are wells. I have noticed that the LHS (N/S) one has a small amount of water at the bottom of it sitting on the trim. The RHS one is bone dry? I have noticed this twice since purchasing the car (11 months ago) and have just mopped it up with some kitchen roll. Nothing seems affected by this but i do store bits and bobs in both of these wells and I cannot see where the water ingress may be coming from. Any views please.

There are 'one way' air vents down there to allow throughflow air to escape from the vehicle. Maybe one is damaged and letting water in?

Hi

I'm not sure whether we share the same problem. My 03 Superb Elegance also attracts water on the left (but not the right) side of the boot. It accumulates in the area where the boot lid mechanism stores. I've looked unsuccessfully for a drain hole in the area as it seems to be worse when parked on a hill in wet weather. It soon disappears (to where I know not) and the rest of the boot is always bone dry.

Not certain where your water is but might it be coming from the area where mine gathers?

No doubt someone will come along with a full explanation!

New to this and not familiar with all Skoda models so this may be a red herring. Does either car have rear wash-wipe facility? There is a post somewhere on the site about rear washers not working - May be irrelevant.

Mine does not have any rear wash wipe as it is a saloon but thanks for the suggestion. With regard to the Air vents - where exactly are these and can you see them?

I think it might be a trip to the dealer if I can't find a solution whilst car is under Warranty?

Check the fit/seal of the rear light lenses.

If you remove the carpet' that lines these cubby holes you'll see them

This is a feature that some people would love on their Superb but it's not an option I am afraid...

I would agree with rotodiesel on this one, more than likely there will be something that has caused the rubber seal on the back of the rearlamps to become open.....have you changed the lamps at any point or even replaced a bulb?

have you checked around the rear light lens sometimes water can get in from here, when the vehicle moves the water willl move to a lower point from here.

If it's still under warranty I wouldn't waste your time hunting yourself - I'd get it into the dealers and get it fixed under warranty, whatever it may be.

Hi All - I have now taken car into garage. It appears that the water is getting into the boot well via the tow bar wiriong loom. The tow bar fitted (prior to my purchase) is a non Skoda type.
garage are now looking into possible warranty of the tow bat fitting or something else? Waiting to hear from them - but they have assured me that i will incur no cost whatever they do to rectify the problem. keep you posted.

If the tow bar is fitted by there normal 3rd party person I am surprised that there has been a problem, As i have used the 3rd party person 3 times with no trouble at all. I am sure it will be sorted out for you with no fuss.
