| Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! As by the title I'm looking at building another PC. I have checked a few suppliers and how the prices compare but never used some: - PCnextday - used a fair bit no problems but limited in some items Scan - not used Novatech - not used Saverstore - used once seemed ok Microdirect - not used Overclockers dabs - used once wasnt too happy! any others? Ebuyer - sorry but after buying a LCD TV a few months ago never again!! it had to go back twice because the item was not new! and more that likely rejects! That followed a previous experience buying PC bits about 3 years ago!! no end of issues! BTW... looking at spending £350 approx on a system (no monitor, etc) that I'll put Ubuntu on. I have seen the other thread by Chris .. http://briskoda.net/tech-shed/sugges...c-case/117439/

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! I have ordered a lot from ebuyer and never had any issues, same with dabs. Recently I have tried novatech and pcnextday, but will most likely be going back to ebuyer in the future.

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! I have only realy used Novatech and they have been spot on. Even better is that they are only 5 mins from work. Dabs and Microdirect once each with no problems but I would always go to Novatech as my first choice now.

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! Scam and Watfraud have shockingly bad reputations and I wont use Dabs as they insisted that 3 months to replace a router was perfectly reasonable. I've bought a lot of stuff from Ebuyer without issue (close to 10k including work stuff) , but more importantly I'd price up any system carefully then look at how much a ready built machine from Dell will cost

I sent a mobo back there that had cooked a Xeon due to what I think was a faulty voltage regulator. They gave and RMA and took the board, then said no it's physical damage we won't replace the board as the socket is melted. Also said there was nothing on the mobo that could go wrong (WTF???). Anyway they then claimed they sent it back to the supplier who said no fault found, the only problem is the supplier is in the states and the UK vendor is somebody I had contact with through my job at the time. They had never seen the board and were the UK's sole importers. In the end I used the credit card protection and then they tried to charge again and got a warning from the CC provider. Ebuyer are good for cheap and I also use novatech as they are local so anything can be easily exchanged. I'd say if you can get one that is reasonably priced and local enough if you need to go there.

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! Cheers, I know I could get a spec one from Dell, but its the same as all the sites, just don't have exactly what i want! Might have to buy from 1 or 2 different shops to get the bits I want. I know everyone has different experiences, I have had good cheap stuff from Ebuyer but it was their response to getting sent 2 duff TV's that has made me say no more! Anyway thanks for the responses I'll check out some of the sites again. Forgot the one around the corner from me, all of a mile away! EDGE TECHNOLOGY

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! Never had an issue with Ebuyer and I've put a few £k of business through them. I've used Scan some years ago without problems but their postage was high. Also use Dabs occationally without many problems. Previous business used them for a lot of stuff. They are owned by BT now which can't be good. I've also used Overclockers.co.uk without problems and I've had CCLonline.co.uk recommended to me. I tried to order through CCL but couldn't use them because the first order has to go to the billing address and I direct all deliveries to my retired parents. They were very easy to contact and good at cancelling the order so I'd definitely give CCL a go.

I am always using Microdirect, from the City of Manchester GB, as they have some very good cheap deals here, and for spending so much money they give back save voucher. If ther is any problem with, a fault then they will change for new replacement, and no questions. You should try them I think. Avoid the Dabs are they use the B grade things sometimes. | Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! Ebuyer have been great for me and I've spent quite a bit with them but I don't doubt that you have had a bad experience as I've been there with other companies that are supposedly very good. Novatech I have also used quite a bit and quite like just tend to be a little more expensive than ebuyer. Scan I dont like purely down to delivery prices. As per last post I've used overclockers a few times without issue but only small orders. |

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! Have used ebuyer several times for stuff and never had any problems! Once had a gfx card break and they replaced it straight away. Just recieved a hard drive from them this morning actually (samsung F1!) Have also used CCL before too... for both online orders and also been in to pick stuff up before. My mum bought her first Pc from there years ago (we're talking Duron 1ghz, 128mb ram etc etc) and that's still going now!!!! |

Have you had a look at the Aria PC webiste, they are based in Manchester and have very good prices and offer reasonable postage costs using City Link. Once I found them I have not gone anywhere else and have been very very happy with the service received both over the counter and via courier delivery. The web link is www.aria.co.uk Best regards, PAO72

| Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! I had 3 experiences with SCAN, the first one is a big order (for me) of CPU+mobo+RAM+ GPU, and then more RAM and a new HD. I am happy to report that I had no problem with them so far. And you get free standard 2-3 days delivery if you are a member of AV forum (and other forum I don't know). Go check their "today only" section, usually few quids cheaper. Check especially on Friday afternoon, when they will have most popular stuff (e.g. C2D, RAM, NVIDIA etc) on the list. Louis

| Briskodian | Re: Best PC component online supplier.. recommend any except ebuyer!! IIRC Overclockers used to and still try to maintain an illegal returns policy of "it's not our problem deal with the manufacturer" Overclockers UK - Support seems to imply that isn't the case and they just prefer you to deal with the manufacturer after 28 days, but I have heard otherwise.
