| Broadband Well having found out my isp blocks usenet and i seem to be paying well over the odds i want to change to a new provider. I want up to 8Mb with an unlimited download limit, i am not on an LLU exchange so BE etc is out of the question, I am not in a cable area either. I was looking at virgin media but then Col God pointed me to sky. Are they any good, does anyone have any other suggestions? £10 for 16mb unlimited from sky seems a bit cheap, what's the catch? |

| Re: Broadband Robs right there Most major companies are the same. Where the service is faultless you'll have no problems until you decide to speak to their customer services. I was with 02 for ages but they seemed unwilling to lower costs for loyal members. Switched to T-Mobile and after a year my line rental got reduced. If you're with Sky already go for it. My cousin had Sky and the broadband in his flat and the service was good. I think you may have to pay BT line rental on top of your package too. We're on VM and we have had no issues. But we live in a cable area. |

| Go Gadget Octy! | Re: Broadband Orange is OK, but like others until you have issues and need to deal with India, I mean cust services. In-laws have just got sky, so I'm migrating them over from pipex as Sky offer basic package (all they need for £0 )Orange I pay £5/month for 8mb unlimited, but as an Orange mobile customer. Just remember, there is no such thing as unlimted! So read what they class as fair usage before they throttle you/block you. Orange give me 40GB tops - but not quite hit that yet :whistles: |

| Re: Broadband Well its back to the drawing board as sky say they cannot provide me with broadband as they dont have any equipment in my exchange, so they can only provide me with sky connect which is up to 8mb capped at 20gb fo £20 a month + £50 activation, which hardly seems fair considering the line is already active and its just a transfer. So sky can off. |

| Briskodian | Re: Broadband I'm with UK Free Software Network (a reseller of the huge Entanet service) UK Free Software Network I know it's not unlimited but...... I'm on the Home Max 30 package which I think is pretty good value considering the connection I get. I've never gone over the 30gb peak limit and I think that 300gb off peak is large enough for me at least. I came from Tiscali though and they were absolute pants, especially for port blocking and throttling. Really bad in fact. With Entanet, there is *no* throttling - I always get over 650Kb/s from Usenet, any time of day or night pretty much. I just schedule all my big downloads for after 10pm! HTH Joe

| Re: Broadband I came to Orange from Zen as I could no longer justify the cost. TBH as I have had no problems I wish I had done it sooner. Although my area is now LLU'd and I could now get up to 16Meg with the likes of Be and 02 etc. Like most companies the forums are awash with nightmare stories if you have to try and deal with Delhi. I didnt think I would say this , but I can actually recommend Orange for an up to 8meg service. Mainly because I pay £12/mnth for Broadband ( quite regularly hit over 60Gb/ month and never hear from them , max out usenet / torrents etc ), all telephone calls ( inc 30 foreign countries , with lots of friends abroad this is a god send ) and most importantly line rental. No more BT bills ![]()
