| Go Gadget Octy! | Candy oven -almost fire. Mum's called that her candy oven failed and almost burnt the place down. Now this isnt the first candy she's had do this. About 16 years ago one friday, we were all rushed out of the house when our Candy built in caught fire due to a fault temp sensor. Dont these things have safety cut outs? And can anyone point me at any forums which prove this is a common Candy issue? Being retired now, they really cant afford a new one, and it's litterally 54 weeks old today! I really want to help them fight this with Candy. I'm awaiting the model number when mum finds the manuals. |

| Briskodian | Re: Candy oven -almost fire. Hi. I can't help with Candy and generally speaking "common faults" tend to be rejected since there'd be too much at stake if such a fault were admitted. I don't know what you mean by "almost burnt the place down". However, if the oven is only 54 weeks old (so just out of warranty) and was installed with proper clearance etc and used as intended, it might be worth asking Trading Standards whether the oven could be said to be fit for purpose if it "almost burnt the place down" after only one year and two weeks. You'll need lots of facts that you'd be happy to rely on of course. That is just my thinking and I'm no expert. Incidentally, I have a counter-top "goldfish bowl with fan on top" oven which we use far more often than the "proper" oven. I know that others who don't need to cook huge amounts have more traditional mini ovens - I'm not sure if they have a hob though. I could ask about these if you like? Just a thought but I'm wondering if a fire blanket might be an idea? I have a little fire extinguisher that appears to be easy to use but I dunno if I'd remember how in case of emergency ![]() Regards Mo |

| Go Gadget Octy! | Re: Candy oven -almost fire. It's a candy F254. Look up the model, and every result in google is somewhere to buy a new temp sensor. Mmmmmm |
