Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

I thought it was gonna use the Gecko engine, but its seems it uses Webkit - never really tried that before apart from briefly in Safari, but if its anything like KHTML code it should be pretty fast.

Will give it a play later

Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

I used it for a bit, impressed with the size of the browsing window, but not liking the bookmarks bar. It takes too long to get into your imported bookmarks.

And I think it's slower than FF.

Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

Some good ideas in there, and I welcome the fresh approach; having something new in the marketplace will make the other players think, and should make them up their game.

I like the 'Most Visited' feature the best probably, and the whole experience does seem to run along very nicely. Swift, seamless changes while navigating and speed seems good.

Will it tempt me from FFX3 and all my add-ons? No, not at the moment. But for a first stage beta I'm impressed.

Steve

Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

I'm having a play with it at the mo!

Oh... it's underlined 'mo' as I'm typing! Built in spell checker?

Anyway - the scroll part of my laptop pad lets me scroll down but not back up in it! Same with the the mini direction button too... Hmm...

Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

Im testing it.. seems OK.
I like the most visited page.. its a nice way to organise stuff im likely going to look at..

Also side by side comparison, it uses about half as much memory as FF does and loads each tab in a separate process, which should theoretically improve performance and not crash the whole app if one of the pages becomes unresponsive.

Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

I like the start page with your most recent activity on (don't worry there is an incognito tab for browsing left handed sites) at the minute I can't seem to find a home button that every other browser in the world has.

It seems faster to me than FF3, definately when starting the program and marginally when displaying pages.

EDIT: Found how to add the Home button

ANOTHER EDIT: There's no plug in available to view the website for our vehicle tracking service

AND ANOTHER EDIT: Logmein doesn't work either!

Re: Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Chrome?

I'm using Opera currently. I got sick of FF being such a resource hog, and with FF3 it became totally unuseable on my lower spec machines. I miss one or two addins like delicious, but don't miss the slowness and constant disk churn.

May look at Chrome sometime, not going to rush in if it's currently a beta, which I assume is the case? (mind you most browsers seem to be beta, most of the time...)

I'd report the issues to them Dave. Hit the icon to the right of the address bar, and it's the last option.

It is a beta version after all
