Forum software for intranet?

I need to add a message board to our intranet at work for about 100 employees to use (though only half will probably bother).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what's free and easy to set up and administer.

I've done this in the past but it was about 5 years back and I can't remember what I used.

It'll be running on a 2003 webserver and I can either use SQLExpress on that box or use a separate SQL database on another machine

Thanks

JForum if your guys are Java and if you do a google there is an ASP.net forum out there too which would suit your windows based setup by the sounds of it.

Agreed. it's not too bad under Windows either, and supports MSSQL.

Re: Forum software for intranet?

I decided to use PHPBB3 and it didn't take long at all to get it up and running.

Obviously there's a fair bit of work to do in setting it all up how we want it and I've got to write a userguide for staff , many of whom are total newbies , but on the whole it's very impressive and easy to use.
