Celtic Tuning

Had my Octavia 2.0TDI remapped by Celtic Tuning last Tuesday, (180bhp-300ft/lb) the car was already fairly swift, now it keeps the traction control busy. The Celtic guys told me that the way they replace the files on the ecu makes it impossible to detect the remap without a rolling road test, they explained the method but it went over my head.
They were good guys, keen to be helpful and they come to your home to do the work. I thought it was good value for £350

Re: Celtic Tuning

Mine was done by Celtic Tuning before I got it and I am suitably impressed, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them (ask Robbo 51, oh sorry he hasn't had a re-map )

And I suppose you believed it. Sadly that wouldn't be the case, as soon as they drove the car they would experiance the same pleasure you get from the car.

Not just that. They can also see the adjustments, and the boost.

And that the flash blocks are not where they were originally, but further along the file system.

Flash based file systems leave a lot of evidence of writes as when you write there is a wear evening system which will write in a circular fashion so leaving blocks still there that are "deleted".

Bosch ME7(1.8T) and Bosch EDC15(1.9PD) systems do not have any flash counter internally, a memory chip(AM29F400/800) stores the operating system and any control data, if this is edited it's in the same block otherwise the operating system won't reference it.

With Bosch MED9(2.0TFSI) and Bosch EDC16(2.0TDI) there is a write counter, this can be reset with some tools but not all. Memory internally in these is not stored on one chip but in several places including memory internally on the processor itself.
