OK two part question 1, Has anyone had any problems with the Fabia's aircon unit? Today I was driving to work and could hear a dull rattle coming from the front of my car (almost as if the bonnet wasn't catching right). After turning my fans off I noticed the noise had gone yet when the fans and aircon is on I get this rattle. 2, Also since my 2nd year service my fans "whistle" on settings 3&4. I know they replaced the pollen filter - would this being installed incorrectly cause a whistle?

I have Hankook V12's and they handle fine. Only had them 2 months so unsure what the wear is like but so far so good

there not on eBay either. I guess many wouldn't be at scrap yards as it's one of the first things to get damaged. What about a fabia on eBay being broken? (Haven't looked)

I went for the meg's smooth car finish kit as you get a micro fibre cloth, a small bottle of wax (best for a base layer), a bottle of quick detailer and two clay bars. Works a treat however never apply it when the sun is out high in the sky as the detailer spray drys before you'll work the area and you'll end up using more product for the same job.

I always have a good shop around to save the pennies. Recently though I took advantage of halfrauds 3 for 2 offers and made sure I bought the same price group of products so I get the most out of the discount. I've used Elite Car Care but have also seen a few other sites with similar prices. I also beleive Civic owners club gets a discount off elite car care. Any chance of arranging one for freedom members perhaps?

LOL thinking about it mine has been putting out a cloud of smoke when I join on to the mancy way but I thought that was common in desiels under acceleration... Well they gave me a work order form tonight (inc a free 1ltr bottle of oil in a zip bag- all very fancy and nothing like the inout service I got from horners) and it states it needs two new rubber seals on it so I wont be getting a new turbo by the sounds of it.

How can I tell if it's leaking again, is this some thing they will have to check on VAG com or can a visual inspection bring it up?

This morning I passed my car over to Hobin's of manchester (a seat and skoda dealer) for it's 2nd year service. They've just phoned me to say that the car is coming along ok but the turbo is leaking and needs to go back for some parts to be replaced. :( I haven't noticed any performance drop however I don't drive like a mad man timing laps etc. I was wondering if this is a common problem with the VRS and what normally causes it.

Just to ask a sub-question to this issue. Does the ECU need any kind of reset when changing the brake fluid? A Golf owner informed me all VAG cars need this doing but I think he's yanking my chain....

I'd say around the £250 mark is about right but don't be suprised if it's slightly higher (as you've found out!)

well it's not the bulk stuff but I've recently bought the Meg's Nxt glass cleaner and it's great! just needed a little elbow grease to remove water spots.

Really good detail there the car looks like new again!

I used scratchX 2.0 yesterday on my GF's tigra. I had mixed results with it. Items such as scuff were removed after heavy amount of rubbing but scratches remained. If it doesn't work first time round try adding more pressure to the rub

Lads at work say the same thing and it will get done however due to money etc etc it'll get done next year with the rest of my handling mods.

LOL it did cost a few £ but I thought bugger it. I wana keep this car for a while so kept with what I knew.

The process I used is as follows 1. Dual bucket wash with a lamb mitt 2. Meguiars smooth clay kit 3. ScratchX to remove some scratches 4. Wax with the small wax kit that comes with the smooth kit 5. Wax with Nxt Gen Wax Unfortunately I poorly attempted to clean my back box with the Nxt Gen metal polish but think I need to give it a better clean next time before attempting that. Also Meguiars promot that all Nxt gen and classic wax's are clear drying - true - however the wax that comes with the smooth kit isn't. So when I came to clean it again a few weeks later and add the wheels I made sure the white bits stuck in the trim and edges were removed. I also had to remove a few feathers from my grill (as I hit a pigeon on the way home the other day :(). Once the car was dry I went over it with the quick detailer. Interior (sorry no pics yet) was vac'd then I used Meguiars Leather 2 in 1 to treat my seats, wheel, gear knob and hand brake. Really pleased with my self plus I dunno about anyone else but the meguiars products smell great!
