  1. I have a 2.0 tdi 4x4 estate, and is a first class towcar. After 20K no problems so far, I hope I havent jinxed it now!!!
  2. The level on my 2.0 TDi is just above minimum when cold and around the max mark when hot, wont filling it to max when cold present a problem when the engine warms up?
  3. I wouldnt worry , they all do it, its just a charactoristic of the tdi engine.
  4. Its a czech tyre made by a partnership of Barum and Continental
  5. I'd be surprised if a 4WD Yeti wasnt better than a 2WD Octavia, try a comparison between 4WD versions of both vehicles. The Yeti has softer springs with longer travel to deal with more offroading, and even with a shorter overhang I suspect it will be more prone to pitching than the 4WD Octavia which squats very firmly on the road with a 75kg load on the hook. Caravan Club gave high marks for the Octavia whereas the report on the Yeti was slightly lukewarm.
  6. I expect the testers didnt fold up the seat bases first, though an interesting test , the Skoda totally widdled all over the Volvo. I've had Volvos in the past, solid but Volvo just cannot seem to get spring rates and damper rates to work. Couldnt 20 years ago, still can't today by all accounts. Either too soft, or on the sport versions they shake your fillings out. Over here in France L'Autojournal just tested a Skoda Superb Break head to head with a comparable Citroen C5 estate, the latest version getting very good right ups in France and in particular Germany . The Superb won 4 : 1 in the various catagories. A very good result considering French magazines although very thorough in testing, can have have a tendecy to favour home brewed products!
  7. No, mines a French model, has 16" Apollons as standard.
  8. Thats just what I wanted to know, many thanks
  9. Have just decided to get a set of steel wheels for my 2.0 tdi 4X4 to fit winter tyres, yes I know a bit late but will be ready for next winter. The spare I have at the moment is a full size wheel with 205 55 16 91V tyre. I know that my dealer should supply the correct size of steel wheel but am interested as looking at my spare wheel it has the following markings on the inside:- VW AG, 1K0601 027A, SRD DE 163902, 61/2JX16H2 ET50, DIN V1 19 07. I understood that the Octy used 6.5 J 16 wheels. Anybody got any ideas what these figures signify in regard to size?
  10. My 105 Tdi used to judder on starting, almost like a slight miss fire. Would only start on the second or third attempt. Try driving it up hill in 5th gear and floor the throttle, if the engine starts to judder quite strongly then its probably the DMF needs changing, mine was faulty from new I think. Dealer changed it for a single mass flywheel ,under two years ,so Skoda paid all. Have to say the car felt rougher after but I changed it soon after the work was done.
  11. Great, Lovely looking dog, I've got two of them and have been thinking about a Yeti, but was concerned about the boot space, they are both used to an Octavia estate boot.
  12. Hi Helgestahill, Is that a PON you have there? Is there room enough for two? Regards Pud
  13. After a 5 hour tow down the autoroute I had ice crystals forming in the milk, so yes its working OK. In the fuse box in the dashboard fuse numbers 19- 5amp,43 and 45 -15 amp and 44 -20 amp are marked with a towbar sign. The 5 amp is for the device that cottons on that a trailer is connected, the others I assume are for the permanent feed for the van, battery charger and fridge.
  14. My last 1.9 started to judder under load going uphill, new DMF, luckily under warranty.
  15. Just had my 2.0 tdi 4X4 Octavia fitted with a detach towbar here in France. Cost just over 1100 euros, expensive, but I have to say a job very well done. Car seems to have been already wired for caravan use ie charging battery , fridge etc. Found four extra fuses in the dashboard unit, one 5, two 15 and one 20 amp. Price included new preshaped underskirt and an adapter for use with a seven pin trailer. Only ten pins in place in the cars plug, but on recent holiday test all worked extremly well. Having seen some of the problems encountered by other members I think it must be something to do with the difference between left and right hand drive build cars.
  16. minis have run flats dont they?
  17. remember if you get the 4X4, it has the 8 valve head only, dont know if that will make a difference to the tuning margins.
  18. single mass wheel can be fitted to the 1.9, mine was done that way, made the engine a bit rougher but was ok. You cannot fit the single mw to the 2.0, you have to have the dual mass job.
  19. Pud

    Boot space

Interesting, it must be a very slim spare!
