  1. Octavia 2 4X4 boot is exactly the same size as the 4X2 boot, pity they couldnt do the same for the Yeti, they have certainly lost one sale!
  2. I was told you can only have a dual mass job on the two litre, unless somebody can tell me otherwise, please, Ive got one!
  3. Ive just done 14K (Km) on mine ,140 4X4 and as yet hasnt used a drop, sign of a good engine, I hope!
  4. How about a Yeti? Might give you the extra height, although she might have to share the boot with the spare wheel if you wanted one.
  5. Hi Pixi, Have got an Octavia 4X4 estate and have just measured the boot, I think its a non starter. The lip is 15 cms deep so you would need to fit the false floor available as an option; but then there is not enough height to get an 80 cm crate in. The width is just OK at a little bit over 100cms but with the back seat angle as it is the crate would be through the back window. It would probably fit without the false floor but then you couldnt open the cage door! I know mine is a 4X4 but my last car was two wheel drive and the boot size is exactly the same. I have a 15 cm foam pad on the boot floor with an old sleeping bag on top, my two just curl up on that.
  6. Just picked up the official french yeti prices, range from 18890 euros for a base 1.2 4X2 to 31900 euros for a top spec TDi 170 4X4, at current exchange rates these are 16284 and 27500 pounds sterling respectively. Equipement levels seem quite high.
  7. I think this must be british thing by skoda, have just looked at the updated french site and all fabias, roomsters ,octavias and superbs have a full sized steel wheel as a spare. The cars with the bigger section tyres ie L&K have a reduced size wheel but not a gallette. I dont know about the scout and vrs as they have not been updated on the site yet ,but I would think the same would apply. I suspect the yeti will be the same as the vw tiguin ie does not have a wheel well and therefore will come with a bottle of gunk plus compressor. I've heard that a spare wheel will be a no cost option but will have to fit in the boot, making a small boot even smaller! When I had Volvos in the uk I was always told that the spare wheel played a part in the crash resistance of the rear end of the car, so I have to say this seems a bad move by skoda and all the other manufacturers who are going to follow on. The other day i lost a sidewall in the middle of nowwhere at night so i was very glad i had a spare to use!
  8. I forgot, price was 21500 euros (18534 pounds sterling at todays rapidly dropping rates again!)
  9. Autoplus France have just tested Yeti 2.0 TDi 110 4X2 Ambition. They liked a lot: Comfort, driveability, engine, braking, performance, driving position, quality of materials used. They liked less: Build quality, engine insulation, wind noise, small boot, gear change, only really a 2 seater in the back. They didnt like: puncture repair kit as standard, spare wheel a no cost option, BUT it would appear there is no well in the boot as the boot volume is reduced from 405 dm3 to305dm3 if the spare wheel option is taken up. If this is the case then I think I will be sticking to the octavia as that would make the boot about the same as a Fabia berline.
  10. By VW, at nearly 10 grand less per car they must be losing money on each uk sale, or making a huge profit on other sales. You can buy a Octavia tdi 140 4X4 for about 18000 sterling in uk, not counting any discount available, the same in France will cost you 30000 euros, even with the difference in exchange rates, thats a lot of money!
  11. Agreed, prices do seem to vary quite a bit throughout the EU, an Octavia Scout for example here in France is about 30500 euros, in Holland 36500, or in Austria 28200. Our Danish friends paid 42000 euros for a pre- registered Peugeot 307 estate, middle range petrol model!! Ouch! Shows how subsidised UK prices are at the momment, cant last much longer I suspect, too much money being lost.
  12. Skoda Germany are showing base price for a 1.2 Yeti, starting at 17990 euros!
  13. why is the back plate different from the front one??? something Finnish??
  14. Anybody heard when or if the scout is getting the cr engine?
  15. Hi all Does anybody out there tow a caravan with a 2.0 tdi octavia 4X4? I'm thinking about getting a van but am concerned that it might cause early failure of the dreaded DMF. Any thoughts or experiences on this matter would be gratefully received. Pud.
  16. I had the same problem with my 2005 1.9 estate, always a problem, cleaned them out but by the next week they reappeared, however, strangely with my 2007 2.0 140 4X4 estate I have not had a single stone trapped Living and driving in the same area, maybe the brakes are different on this model, I just thought that Skoda had cured this problem.
  17. I had a similar problem with my 1.9 tdi estate, starting off was no problem, just going up a hill, if you put your foot down a bit more than normal then the engine would start to judder. Changing down gear would cure it. Dealer replaced the dmf and clutch with no problems. When I got it back, it never ran as smooth, I suspect they replaced with a single mass flywheel. I sold it shortly afterwards so I dont know what the final outcome was.
  18. Does anybody know if the 8 valve head suffers the same cracking problem as the 16 valver?
  19. Get your skoda dealer to change the radio, its a well known fault, mine did with no quibbles.
  20. Mines a left hand drive, French one, have to say there is no gap at all on both sides, so it looks as though it is something to do with the right hand drive conversion.
  21. yes , as it came out of the box, wheels are appollon
  22. My 4X4 has 16 inch alloys with a steel spare, also full size, the boot space is the same on both types of car, the four wheel drive system makes no difference at all except that the fuel tank is of a saddle shape and holds an extra 5 litres, ie 60 as opposed to 55 on the standard car. The tyres are standard V rate Bridgestones E300, slightly noisy but wear well with good grip. A friend of mine yesterday got well and truly stuck with his Hyundai Terracan in the snow, where I have to say I gleefully passed him, and that was on summer tyres, I would imagine it would be even better on winter tyres, we'll see next year.
  23. FocusZtec, yes totally cured the problem, from the response of the dealer it was a well known problem, they didnt even bother to check it themselves, just ordered a new radio. I live in France by the way but I should think it should be the same response in UK.
  24. my 2005 estate used to do this, sounded like a bomb going off in the car, very alarming at first, garage changed the whole radio under warranty, no quibbels;
