I had a Volvo V40 once and all the controls surfaces and control knobs were soft touch, felt great but all started to peel off within 6 months, the dealer got fed up with changing them under warranty! Have no problems with my current octavia 2007 4X4 or my last one an elegance estate 2005 1.9.

French diesel is good for -25°, sounds like you had water in it.

Interesting thought everybody, the French car magazine Autoplus not long ago did a comparison test on the claimed bhp and the actual bhp produced on a large number of current models. A lot of engines gave less than indicated ie peugeot 1.6 110 actually produced 104 bhp, whereas the tdi 105 gave 123, tdi 140 gave 168 and the tdi 170 gave 187. Might account for some of the fuel consumption figures, more oomph less mpg. My Tdi 140 4X4 started off in the low 30s but now after 10000Kms I can get around 50 if carefull although if you welly it hard , you can see the gauge move! Overall I think it is not too bad for car weighing 1640 kgs.

do you have met paint? if so it could be that one stick is the base paint colour and the other is the clear varnish to go on top, be carefull with the varnish, its quite thick and very easy to end up with a bump!

I live in France and I have the same label saying no bio diesel to be used in my 2.0 tdi 4X4, but all diesel sold in France contains 5% bio diesel, doesnt appear to be a problem.

my 1.2 gives 50 plus with no problems after 2500 kms, earlier was not so good. Seems to improve with mileage, certainly smoother and more powerfull, lose your fillings with the tdi! I live in France so no road tax.
