Not sure what Skoda were thinking if this is true:

"Worse still, the Superb's rear seats don't fold flat, but you can retract the back of the front passenger seat until it's flat."

Why would anyone make an estate with a loading area that could not be made flat?

I expect the testers didnt fold up the seat bases first, though an interesting test , the Skoda totally widdled all over the Volvo. I've had Volvos in the past, solid but Volvo just cannot seem to get spring rates and damper rates to work. Couldnt 20 years ago, still can't today by all accounts. Either too soft, or on the sport versions they shake your fillings out. Over here in France L'Autojournal just tested a Skoda Superb Break head to head with a comparable Citroen C5 estate, the latest version getting very good right ups in France and in particular Germany . The Superb won 4 : 1 in the various catagories. A very good result considering French magazines although very thorough in testing, can have have a tendecy to favour home brewed products!

It's not much of a contest really is it, the Volvo is ancient in car terms, not really a good choice to compare to, perhaps they did it on purpose as all the other coffin haulers they could've compared with it would be put to shame also.

In the mag they also give a quick compare with the Mondeo and say that the Superb is the better car
