Worst car was probably the mk 2 Focus TDCI, which was trouble from day 1 of ownership

Toyota Crown 2.6 was awful to drive. Both the Mini's were a bottomless pit of repairs. :(

Still longet than mine lol.

Passed my test in 2002 after Phase 2.

(2002 - 2005) 1999 V reg 1.6 8v mk4 Astra Club Silver.

(2005 - way in the future) 2005 05 Reg Octavia vRS Black.

(Feb - March 2011) 2001 51 Reg Octavia vRS Black. broke for parts/mods

I loved both cars, the astra was not really mine as I borrowed money from my Parents. This one is all mine so has a special place in my heart.

The astra has to be the best feeling out of the 2 std. there was more feeling in the steering which made it really nice to drive but lacked power. The vRS is the best tho after a few mods lol and the price was a bonus too, even with all the mods I would say its only been £22k total spend so far and I would say thats cheaper than a new Mondeo ST of the same year and the vRS handles better and goes better, prob more reliable too. (bear in mind thats a std ST and the modified vRS)

Mine in order from 1997

'88 F Vauxhall Astra 1.3 Merit Red

'91 J Vauxhall Astra 1.4i Merit White

'00 X Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 SRi 130 Nocturno Blue

'01 X Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 SRi 150 Midnight Black

'01 51 Skoda Octavia vRS Rally Red

Best and most enjoyable to drive so far has got to be the Octavia, but having only had it for 8 months it's hard to compare to the others. The Cavalier only ever cost me 3 tyres and a lambda sensor in 3 years, the first Vectra needed nothing before being written off in the works carpark after nearly two years and the second Vectra only ever needed tyres, an exhaust flexi and eventually a new downpipe in 6 years, it wasn't going to pass another MOt though due to blue smoke so I bought the Octy which has already cost me 4 new tyres.

Past my test in 1985, since then I have had.

1974 Mini 1000 - TLM 636M

1985 Austin Metro - C935 GBH

1987 Vauxhall Astra 1.2 - D254 PBH

1988 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 - E783 FKX

1978 BMW 320i Auto - EEV 851T

1988 Rover 216 Vanden Plas - E811 JRP

1985 Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia - C861 HGK

1987 Jaguar XJ40 2.9 (Left hand drive) - A5 LAJ

1990 Citroen XM 2.0 SEi Auto - G??? ???

1988 Ford Escort XR3i Convertible - F271 TWC

1989 BMW 520i Auto - F858 LJN

1992 BMW 320 SEi - J186 EUM

1997 Mercedes C180 - P169 SGP

2001 Skoda Octavia MK1 vRS - Y407 JTM

2000 Porsche Boxster S - W735 NFG

2005 Skoda Octavia MK2 2.0PD140 Elegance - AE55 BTU

2008 Skoda Superb MK2 2.0PD140 DSG Elegance - OY58 ***

Whilst I had the Octy vRS and Boxster I also owned a 1994 Ford Mondeo Ghia with 140K on the clock used as a commuter hack, this was replaced with a 1997 Mondeo GhiaX auto with 148K on the clock. The mondeo was sold when I bought the 2005 Octy.

Worst Car, well that was the Citroen XM. I drove it for 8 months, and in that time called out the RAC twice as it left me stranded due to hydraulic system failures. Really comfy when it worked but expensive when it broke. Well it was doing 600 miles a week commuting from Stevenage to Southend on sea and back every day.

Best Car, I still wish I had it and its the Octy vRS. I owned it for 4 years, it was remapped and had a lot of mods. Its still on the road somewhere, but who knows where.

Found an old MOT certificate for my first car as well the other week.

My 1275GT was pretty (Black with white decals), & fun to drive but it had a love affair my mechanic. :S

Mondeo ST24 was a nice car, but a bit slow for it's looks. I think the ST200 was probably a better car to have.

My current Mondeo ST TDCI covers a lot of bases for us now we just run one car, it's quick & very economical, loads of room & comfortable too.

Had quite few niggles when I got it, but it's sorted now, & I do really enjoy driving it.

I loved my Escort Van in my teen years for many reasons! Hated the Mondeo - most uncomfortable car ever. Xantia the most unreliable. The Calibra (one of the last) I only had for 3 months & was the most fun of the lot to drive. If it had been more reliable the Renault Scenic 4x4 would have been my favourite of all time. The Rover 75 was the most comfortable & reliable (Sierra was close for comfort). My first Skoda, the Octy 4x4, I only had about 5 months before I got the Scout in March this year. So far ticking all the boxes for what I need in a car & reliable so far. Not as comfy as the Rover though.

Passed my test in 2006 and here is my list;

93 vw polo 1.0

99 vw golf tdi (90bhp)

93 vw corrado vr6

97 vw polo 1.6

99 vw golf gti (115bhp)

52 skoda octavia vRS

I do like my vag cars, the best all rounder has to be the octy though it does everything you could want. My corrado was a lot of fun though but couldn't afford to run it as a daily. My diesl golf was also a good all round car really good on fuel. My other mk4 golf I had was the 2.0 gti version it wasn't bad but my god it was slow lol. Plan to keep the vrs to at least next summer when I finish my apprentiship possibally move on to a seat leon cupra r or mk2 octy vrs.

1973 Vauxhall Viva 1256 - bought for £50 - actually not too bad - had to learn how to weld quickly though!

1976 Datsun Cherry 100A 998 - VERY economical (50!)but boy did it rust.

1973 Austin Allegro 1750SS - Lovely engine + 5 speed

1977? Cortina 1600 - Great on the motorway but no "guts"

1972 Morris Marina - Had to down size as buying first house!

1977 Capri 2.0 ghia auto - Great car

1961 Morris Minor 948 - Restoration project

1984 Austin Maestro 1300(Company) - WORST CAR EVER!

1984 Ford Escort 1300- OK but very thirsty (lucky to get 30mpg)

1986 Ford Escort 1400- preferred the old one!

1984 VW Polo 1.0 - We owned from new for 19 years

1989 Vauxhall Astra 1300(Company) - Considering the size of engine surprisingly quick. One of my favorites.

1990 Built JPR Wildcat kit car(Etype looker) - another toy!

19?? Renault Savannah 2.0(Company) - Not bad but the initially really comfy seats crippled my back - still suffering today!

1990 Vauxhall Astra 1700 (Company)- Slow but OK

1992 Saab 2000 CS(Company) - Lovely car. Great long distance cruiser, very refined, fabulous seats and suprisingly frugal

1990 VW Passat 1600TD - Good family car, economical with big tank(750 miles!). Refined-ish @60mph bad headache @80mph

2001 Skoda Octavia 1.4 16v - Bought new as a cheap new long distance commute car - Much better than expected(still own it)

1999 Fiat Punto 1200 16V - Bought to replace the old Polo

2003 Skoda Superb 1.9 PD 100 - Great car, spacious, comfortable (not as good as Saab) , fantastic ride, performance better than the 100bhp would suggest and really economical-just under 50mpg(full tank>full tank)

Blimey, its not until you write them down that you realise just how many cars you go through!
