Adam's Fabia vRS Mk1 - 2.0 litre GTB powered

Cheers lads, will get them finished off monday morning then its just a case of getting the ring gear cut into it and send them away to be chemically blackened then I've got everything ready to fit.

Because I'm not going USC next weekend, I'm using the thursday and friday to recondition my alloys at work as I just don't have the space in the unit to do them.

It's something I would have to sit down and have a proper chat with my boss about should I get requests.

Due to the size of it and the amount of tools required to machine them I had to jiggle certain tools in and out of the machine due to clearance when the billet was turning.

I'd imagine I would be able just to turn the blanks of the flywheels and then fit them onto the miller to drill/tap/ream and endmill the remaining bits and pieces on them. The larger the batch the cheaper it will be as it still takes the same amount of time to setup for 1 as it does 100.

Should people be interested I can work out a proper price on X amount and go from there.

From what I've been told/found out its roughly the same weight as a Sachs as they come in at 7kg

My Sachs SRE was 7.2kg :)

Yeah Sachs seemed to be the lightest, heaviest I found was around the 10kg mark. Never found out a weight of the Helix however

Was booked off work Thursday and Friday in preparation for going to Santa Pod this weekend for USC, but due to not having any of my parts fitted I decided to give it a miss and instead I set about refurbing my wheels after sorting a deal out with the painter at work. I would prep all the wheels and mask etc them, and he would just throw some paint on them for us.

So Wednesday evening I set about sanding the old wheels down, the 2 rear wheels was a right mess due to the idiot tyre fitter who scrapped right across the front face of the rims.

Got myself a little stool out and cracked on haha

By lunchtime on Thursday the wheels looked like this

Ended up rubbing some more down on the wheels and my Friday morning I had them all masked off ready to paint

Sat in the booth after the first coat

Clear coated up

And when I went to pick them up

Managed to get them balanced and reinflated on Sunday morning and then set about giving them a wash and several coats of wax.

Inbetween coats of waxes I decided to fit my wind deflectors

20140803_154510_zpshexdvgxf.jpg

Also decided to have a tart up in the engine bay and fit my silicone vac hoses, I've left 2 hoses black for now, the EGR one which will be gone altogether once the turbo etc is fitted and the vac hose for the turbo will be changed when it comes to it all

This is how it started out

Removed one line at a time and cut to length

Gave the car a wash aswell before fitting the refurbed wheels

And how she looks now, light was running out so they look rather dark the wheels

Thanks Kyle, I wasn't a massive fan of these wheels if I do say so, but now they are purple I'm liking them more.

Thanks Jabo, was worth the hours of rubbing down by hand to get a great finish on them.

Glad Charlie has answered your question as I didn't have a clue lol

I had a search online and there's nothing there which jumps as a fit for MK2 vRS. I think I will try and make it a project and fab proper track day strut braces myself. I have some good steel laying around somewhere in the garden ( LOL ) and my welder is crying to be dusted off :)

I was interested in your wheels as my track day alloys could do with some TLC as well!

Not sure if I could be bothered to hand rub them for days on end., I have sand blasting attachment to my pressure washer I think it would be a good time to give it a go ;).

  • 5 weeks later...

Finally had some spare time over the weekend to give the car a detail, it was much needed as the paintwork was looking a little tired once again for my liking.

Started of looking rather grubby.....

20140830_134454_zps5jkffzgj.jpg

Snowfoamed the car and applied Tardis to the bootlid and the bottom 1/4 of the doors

20140830_153720_zpsv8ewuvsi.jpg

Then set about clay barring the car.

Few close ups of the paintwork before hand

And after

20140831_104427_zpsnzfcn9eu.jpg

20140831_162314_zpsjbh8tkos.jpg

Prepped and fitted my new centre cap badges

Today at work I set about balancing my flywheel/clutch assembly now I have got it back from blackening. First of all I set about balancing the crankshaft out of my spare engine, surprisingly for a factory balance it was spot on

20140904_132354_zpscfj9zzyk.jpg

I then fitted and built up the clutch.

20140904_133541_zpsqlwkmccn.jpg

This was a little out once run up......

20140904_133546_zpsjorqp9pq.jpg

Few drilled holes in the flywheel and it's within balance and ready to be fitted.

Last night I had a little catch up with my pal I hadn't seen in a while and he fetched his camera along and took a few pics of my car.

Cheers for the kind words everyone, much happier now I have given the car a detail, looks much better.

Plan is to fit the 2260 at the end of October once I have some free time when my holiday, birthdays and sisters wedding is outta the way.

Really itching for more power but don't wanna rush fitting it plus I think I need to save up for the mapping as it's not really ideal driving around for a while once its all fitted with the current map on.

  • 1 month later...

Managed to service the car the other weekend, bought myself an S2000 air filter from the local motorfactors at the same time and fitted that also. Car sounds a lot more beefy on boost now and looks nice under the bonnet aswell.

20141101_125942_zpskjsmb5if.jpg

Today I have fitted a set of Mondeo droplinks (as they as shorter than the standard items) due to hearing a clunking noise when hitting pot holes and noticed the ARB was rubbing on the offside driveshaft.

20141101_100617_zpscj8gabx1.jpg

20141101_103726_zpscfzyxs4z.jpg

Whilst I had the front wheels off I gave the insides of them a clean. I'm planning on removing them again soon for a proper clean and apply some Carbon Collective wheel sealant.

20141101_102533_zpsmmt9ovfj.jpg

20141101_103655_zpsmbynmf8f.jpg

I also decided to seal my rear doors as I noticed they was leaking slightly.

20141101_134533_zpsrdbtbmob.jpg

20141101_141147_zpsjwoon4tp.jpg

I need to try and source myself a replacement blue tinted nearside mirror glass as the heating element has given up.
