HI Guys.

First, Sorry for my bad english.

I have a problem with battery drain from few weeks. few days ago I realized, that it started to drain battery after the Columbus update to the newer version.

Does someone has the same problem?

Skoda Suberb 3 2017 L&K 2.0 DSG 4x4.

it started with the alarm going on for no reason every 12 hours. At that time I didn't know that it was due to battery drain. I turned off the alarm with Carscanner, so now it not inform me.
However, after that I noticed that the battery was drained  The car after 1 day without starting, had a problem with starting. the battery voltage was 11.6V.
I replaced the battery with a new one, but the problem still persists.
Is it possible that the clumbus update generated the problem?

See below my update old version, and the new one.

New Michelin cross climate 2 tyres fitted , transformed the cabin noise, no droning since fitting them, wife mentioned that is was a lot quieter so it's hopefully worth the £850 !! from ATS. and last longer that 21,00 miles.

Had them on our old Volvo xc70 D5, lasted well although they were the original cross climate.

Following onnfrom yesterdays mission...

I also had a stuck flap in the HVAC system, it would show a fault in VCDS and make an awful creaking sound when the car would start or when I adjustment the air flow.

I turned everything off and sprayed a generous about of SP90 silicone spray down every vent in the car, let it settle, then in turn activated each blower position.

I can no confirm, fault.has cleared and no more squeaky vents!

I also received my Start/Stop disable cable , fitted this. A bit fiddly to tuck the excess cable away, but done now. Works as expected!

Which flap was it that you had problems with? Mine is the demister flap/actuator that groans and creaks and sprayed into all the vents 2 or 3 times and that demister flap is still noisy.

Yup, it's was the demister one for me too. I think because it's the louvre that gets exposed to the most heat from the sun, drying out the factory lubricant.

OK, I might give it another application of the silicon spray down the windscreen vents, when the car comes back again tomorrow from the service dept.

Took down my old summer house and been doing several trips to the tip

I got fed up with the tarpaulin I was using falling down so bought a hippo bag medium (1.8m long x 90cm wide, fits rather well with the seats folded down 😁

I've used Hippo bags before. Isn't the point of a Hippo bag that they come & remove it from your property after you fill it?

Thereby saving you having to make any trips to the dump.

It is but very expensive for them to collect, the bag was cheap at £17 from b&q and the tips not far and much better than laying tarpaulin and trying to make it stay up at the sides

It seems very durable so can see it lasting ages, I not long put in a fabric boot liner but didn’t want it getting ripped as there’s some unremovable screws 😞

How much are they charging to pick up the bag now then?

I had to give mine another spray too the other day, followed by the Air Vent re-calibration procedure, just to get the vents moving through all their positions.

I spoke to a colleague about this, they also noted that the actuator can be external to the vent so spraying a lubricant might not always work. My theory is it's the shaft that gets dry and the Louvre rubbing off the vent piping. So spraying covers both, and also weaps along the shaft, eventually spreading through the mechanism.

Anyway results speak for themselves, my vents are 99% quieter in their movements now and no error codes; temp limit of actuator reached etc.

On their website it says £229 for the bag I got with collection 😮

I wouldn’t even pay that much to discretely dispose of a body

Jeez. Prices have gone up massively since I used Hippo last. I just checked & I paid £149.99 for a Mega bag collection in Aug 2020. I filled the bag with waste soil from a landscape project at home which was easier than doing multiple trips to the dump (lockdown issues) & with no tarp to protect the car.

TBF I use my local dump quite regularly for a variety of stuff I can't put in our wheelie bins. A few weeks ago I had a double stacked fridge / freezer in my Superb. Must have been over 6ft high / long - no problem. All hail the estate car.

Did you just spray through the top 2 dashboard top vents?

Top and centre ones. I have done all of the previously.

Also this silicone spray is very good for lubricant the electric windows at the edges on the seals. If you notice a difference in speed between the 4 windows then lubricating the points of friction makes a massive difference.

This is also the same stuff used to lubricate rubber brushings in the suspension!

Is there anything this stuff won't do 😂

Which one did you use or just any generic silicone spray?

I used WD-40 silicon spray with straw applicator so I could poke it through the vent slats to make sure that the silicon got into the mechanism and less over the vents.

I used the Action Can SP 90, it has no smell or a neutral smell. Its the same as the WD40 version that Graham used above I think. I know Wurth make one too but it has a strong after smell.

I finally got around to trying my 200GB MicroSD card in my Columbus as I've more music than fits on the 64GB card I've been using (about 70GB when I last looked).

There are almost 10,200 tracks on it and after a few seconds the car popped up a message about being able to 'synchronise' that many files and I've lost the Yazoo folder off the end 😄 The folder shows up but it says that there are no playable files in it. (Insert pun about shouting 'Don't Go!'...)

Surprisingly the database view (that I never use) also seems happy to let me search via album, genre etc.
