First Service in Southampton

My 2018 Octavia 1.6Hdi Estate will soon need a first service (@19000 miles).

Easy enough to book on the Skoda website except there's no Skoda main dealer in the City of Southampton.

Options are Sparshatts of Botley, Meadens of Brockenhurst or Winchester Motor Company. The service can't be a major job as the website shows a fixed price of £179 for a first service, so I'm looking for a while u wait appointment.

So the question is does anyone have any previous experience I can share to decide which of the 3 dealers is best for a service, especially a while I wait service. I would imagine all could do the job equally well so timekeeping would be my main concern, in and out ASAP is good for me.

Any advice most welcome.

Are you sure on the Fixed Price of £179 for the first service?

Your car must be on Variable / Flexible Servicing not Fixed Servicing.

The Minor / Interim service price for Fixed Service Intervals on cars from 3 years to 10 years at participating dealerships might be available on what they will say is a

'Major Service' at the first 19,000 miles.

You best check.   Maybe they will do it for £179, maybe you can get cheaper.

You are just going to get a Oil & Filter change and maybe a Pollen Filter and the other look sees and report and Free / Expensive free wash and vacuum.

Thanks for reply.

I've just double checked, Skoda website>book a service>select vehicle>select dealer>select first service from menu and its £179 fixed.

Maybe the interim oil change service is all thats required @19000 miles, I agree its an expensive oil change but probably necessary to maintain the warranty.

There's an independent specialist called Jean Pierre on my doorstep, could be worth considering. Again anyone got any experience of them?

If you received a Warranty Booklet, or you check the Manufacturers warranty online they say.

Service to 'manufacturers recommendations' or similar not even to 'manufacturers schedule'  then the 'Recommendations' or 'Guidelines' are not clear.

So an Oil & Filter change is required using VW 507  5w 30 FS LL or VW 509  0w 20 FS LL & a OEM Filter,  not the other stuff getting to the rip rip off £179 or £289.

** If they had not done away with SERVICE BOOKS with Service Intervals and after those pages BODY INSPECTION pages the Manufacturers Service Recommendations would be there is Black & White and clear to all, including Dealership Employees on a Service Desk.**

But then they have it all on a keyboard / screen if they bother printing it for the customer not just the Tech / Fitter in the workshop.

Avoid Sparshatts of Botley the service staff there are IMHO incompetent, even though we bought our Octavia from them I would never take my car to them again.

Winchester Motor Company get much better comments, but I can't vouch for them personally.
