Bad Day At Dealership

Recommended Posts

Hi there

GOOD PART OF DAY

had one weird day took my car in to be checked over again due to the stutter and after having the vagcom system plugged in they changed the air flow meter and this seems to have cured my problem on the car fingers crossed at the moment no stutter.

BAD PART OF DAY:mad:

after the car was fixed and road tested including vagcom plugged in, car given all clear the mechanic who fixed the car politely said they would clean the car,

THEN TO MY AMAZEMENT I SAW MY CAR BEING THRASHED:eek: ROUND THE CARPARK AT MY DEALERSHIP:thumbdwn: HAYSELDON SKODA DONCASTER :thumbdwn: BY THEIR VALETING DEPARTMENT WHICH I LATER FOUND OUT IS SUB CONTRACTED.

spoke to management about this who was shocked even a guy who was washing car outside who saw this said it happens alot waiting for phone call from them.

spoke to rachel at skoda uk who have contacted dealership to sort this out but said that they`ve voiced their concerns but due to them being non skoda employees they can`t do anything but anymore problems contact her again lovely lady very helpfull and she couldn`t believe what happened.

heres the thing this is my first skoda and at the moment me and my wife are considering replacing our other car but with what has happened I feel that I don`t want another skoda my other cars have been land rovers, hondas, toyotas and even audis, bmws and I have never had this done before so I am alittle annoyed at the moment my other cars were treated with respect and we can`t wait for the JD POWER SURVEY to come out maybe time for a new dealership to look after my car.

(absolutely over the moon with the car just %$^

sorry to hear of this, fingers crossed you get it sorted and perhaps even get something back off them.. i dunno free service, or an accessory for you car?

Although if your not happy and even though its a pain in the rear end...perhaps a different dealers. Or just for you own piece of mind specify no clean on future jobs.

Personally i say no clean anyway as i like to clean the car myself as i know what scratches are on it then etc.

the first time you've seen it!!! more like.

this happens everywhere!!

so if it has been trashed for the time they have it what harm is it going to do?

i see your point totally and I would be unhappy too but I very much doubt it would be hurt by it. cars are designed to be driven like that you know.

I'd be annoyed, but tbh, the thrashing my car gets from me...

At the docks etc, cars are given "some beans". Don't let it worry you mate.

It is a shame though, when we trust our dealers with our expensive posessions, you'd hope they'd treat it with respect.

Absolute b.o.l.l.o.c.k.s. Why cant you see his point of view. This guy takes his car to the dealer and rightly expects his car to be looked after. To say this happens everywhere and its not going to do any harm is total rubbish. You need to sort yourself out matey. I've read a few of your threads and you dont have anything positive to say to anyone. Its about time you shut up and show more respect to people on this site.:finger:

Sorry to hear about your bad day, I too would be pretty miffed it if were me. As I am also getting the stutter on my new vrs, could you tell me what exactely it was they did with the vagcom to the air flow meter so that I can take mine in to have the same treatment? I thought the vagcom showed no fault when plugged in.

Keep us posted on what seems to be the cure

Hopefully you don't go to mad til the engine has warmed up a little bit though. Surely its a lot different doing it from cold.

And anyway thats not really the point - still bang out of order.

Def something the dealership needs to sort out - and I can't believe they are not aware of it - doubt this is the first time it has happened.

I Totally agree, How would you like it if someone came along and had a quick end away with your missus?? at the end of the day thats what they are designed for but it doesnt make it any better, My car gets its nuts from me because I own it and I decide what happens to it, if i want to give t full beans all day long...i can, what the previous/future owners decide to do to it is irrelavent, much like a ladeee :)[/unquote Swiss Toni]

hi there PIXI :D

this was the fourth time it had been into the dealer but the saturday before taking it in I phoned my local AUDI dealer to ask if they had same problem with their PD130 engines and the head of service at AUDI told me out right it will be the air flow meter (MAF) as he called it,

but he also told me other things that are common faults if it`s not cured by the MAF, which are ecu memory loss for the fuelling sequence so they use FLASH CD`S on PD130`s to reinstall the software missing and the EGR valve`s mechanical internals going belly up due to soot and sludge but unlikely on new car but he said it has happened and he said that the fault should have been sorted from first visit due to they all get trained at the same place and the common faults are laid out in black and white due to all the group use the same engine so problems are passed around the vag group, A BIT OF AMMO JUST INCASE.

when at dealer they plugged the vag com system in and luckly it showed an indicated problem as the MAF so it was changed but the mechanic did say that he was going to change it just in case due to their demo car doing the stutter also,

done a few miles and at the moment no problems at all and I`ve been trying everything to get it to stutter so it has worked for me.:thumbup:

I hope this also helps other people out with the same problem that I had but mine hopefully has been cured.

critch

(P.S. forgot to mention vagcom only finds electrical or connection faults not mechanical or any internal problems with components this was from the guy from AUDI sorry didn`t mention it earlier so mine must have been a connection fault)

I would push for 50% off consumable parts such as clutch, tyres, brakes etc for the life of the car under your ownership. I knew this nutter called William once who burnt out the clutch on a golf gti he'd hired in just a couple of days doing donuts etc. The tyres alone will likely be

hi there :)

spoke to a helpfull lady called rachel:) at skoda uk and she got straight onto them and basically read the riot act because it`s degrading the skoda brand and she rung back later to tell me what had happened and she couldn`t apologise enough but it`s wasn`t her fault but it doesn`t make my wife feel happy at what happened.:thumbdwn:

we are looking to get a replacement for our second car but at the moment my missus doesn`t want another skoda she wants to go back to audi, bmw or a jap manufacturer thats how annoyed she is. :thumbdwn:

I know jamesr asked earlier but i don`t know how i didn`t lose my cool but it might help being 6ft 4 and a stocky not fat 18st and just being assertive,

can`t wait for the JD POWER SURVEY to say how good my dealer was now in the procces of looking for a new dealer to look after my car may try bickerton in sheffield can anybody rate them for me please.

thank you.

I can rate Bickerton very highly. My car came from there in November last year, the guy who sold me the car was excellent (has left now I think), the service department is good, all staff are nice and friendly and, even though the parts department sold me the wrong parts for the car, when it was very clear that I had tried to fit them and they could not re-sell them they happily took them back for a full refund and apologised for the mix up.

My dad deals with the VW section of Haselden in Donni, he really doesn't like them, which made me go all the way to Sheffield.

I'm still waiting on the dealer getting back to me after they scraped and mauled half the interior trim fitting the new carpets last week.

I've also noticed the workshop foreman always drives customers cars like they were stolen, in full view of the garage.

Like you I won't be using my local dealer again.

I had a similar experience when I took my car to a local garage to fit 4 new tyres about 8 months ago. I left the car with them in the morning and was due to pick the car up at 2pm on my way back from work. My Dad was due to pick me up at 1.30 from work but as he set off on the Selby bypass he saw my car doing well in excess of 100 mph down a major A road coming the opposite way.

Needless to say he went straight to them to complain, I was given the 4 tyres for free as a goodwell gesture including free fitting, however it didn't make me feel better that some spotty oik had been thrashing my car around for apparently in excess of 20 minutes (I believe the lad was suspended)!!! Luckily I reset the trip counter just incase this should happen after reading about similar things on ClioSport and renault dealers, and the car had covered 18 miles with an average MPG of 21.7 (remember it to this day).

What irritates me most though is the fact that it's essentially like someone stealing your car, luckily for me I was compensated.

I now work near BMW on Sheerpscar interchange in Leeds and I reguarly see Beemers being thrashed up and down the ramp (a good 100m) to where the service area is.

JBS in Chesterfield? May be a bit further out, but they won't thrash your car and you'll probably get a better price and service than from a main dealer ;) Actually, might end up costing you more in the long run though when you see all their "shiny bits"

Surely in that situation you could get the police involved somehow? Wouldn't the driver be uninsured to drive your car on a major A road? You haven't given them permission to drive it, especially if its in for a service/garage work? A witness seeing the car, and at 100mph+ further witnesses may recall the incident?

Then if they were prosecuted sueing them would give you quite a bit more than 4 new tyres.

I suppose some people treat courtesy cars with the same respect sometimes.

So, this air flow meter just gets swapped for another one then?

Apologies for being female :o :P

I've just read your other thread and it's answered my question

Very true, never thought about it that way before. I was just happy to save

Chap I know with a Scooby turbo had a similar problem. He dropped the car off at the dealership when they opened, picked up the lovely Nissan Micra courtesy car and set off for work. About 5 minutes later he's on the motorway and hears the lovely sound of a decatted flat four on full chat fast approaching at well over the speed limit. He checks his mirrors as the car gets closer and closer, thinking how good it looks and how similiar it is to his car......

..... and then realises it is his car! Being caned by a yoof in overalls from the garage!!!

He rang the garage to ask how the service was going and the service manager said it was going well and the car was in the workshop at the moment. The customer asked if it was normal practice to take the cars out prior to a service, and was told that it wasn't as they had no reason to do that. The service manager was then asked if he could explain why the customer had just been overtaken by his own car travelling well in excess of the speed limit 5 minutes before?! He couldn't! After a couple of strongly worded complaints to the dealership and Subaru UK all he got was an apology and notice that the employee responsible was no longer employed. Suffice to say, he took his business to a Subaru specialist after that!

Oh, and to add insult to injury, the yoof had also triggered 2 speed cameras whilst driving it too

I assume he passed the delaers details to the plod for the cameras though  ?

I always reset Trip2 before going to the dealers, that way you get a good idea of what they've done with it. For example, 15 miles at 15MPG would indicate a little joy riding.
