Hi James

Welcome to Briskoda.

Well, i suspect you might have re-opened a can of worms. With regards to the REVO trial, can i point you to this thread.

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2673&page=1&pp=15&highlight=revo

Secondly, warranty issues.

Officially, ANY remap or rechip voids your warranty. However some dealers might overlook it for the purpose of claims which would not be directly linked to a remap.

HOWEVER

As one of our more "illustrious" members recently found, if your engine goes bang, you're on your own.

The choice is yours ;)

As far as I know there are no Briskoda members who currently have REVO software installed. One member tried the software but would not recommend it in the light of his experiences with it. However it is popular with SEATCupra.net members.

As far as warranty is concerned, this FAQ is about a definitive answer as you will get. Have a look through the rest of the FAQs, and then read posts in this forum and the Jabbasport one in particular here to see what route members have taken in tuning their cars.

i "think" there may be 1 or 2 others Denis but not amongst the "regulars" and i don't think they're UK based. ;)

Depends on which site you ask ;)

Revo is almost universally ignored (for want of a better word) on Briskoda, we're mostly Jabba converts here ;)

the seatcupra.net crowd on the other hand seem to love REVO to bits.

At the end of the day, i chose Jabba as they have a track record of better results, they put the car on the rollers before & after the re-map, and there's also the fact i was loathe to pay

i see your point,i will get a dyno before and after and let you know the results.what is the norm and what good in terms of bhp/torque?
Answers to that are in the Jabbasport forum. A Jabba remap includes before and after dyno chart, pre and post mapping diagnostic check of vital sensors, with MAF cleaning if necessary. The ECU can be reverted back to standard settings FOC at a future date should you so wish. Jabba can also fit a boost controller which allows instant linear adjustment of the boost curve from full mapped pressure right down to standard boost level with any increments between. As a Briskoda member, you qualify for a 5% discount off a Jabba remap, or 10% if you are included in a group discount remap - SkodiRS organises these. If you do go the REVO route, we would be very interested to see the before and after figures and dyno charts!

Ooops! So that's ONE confirmed REVO user out of 1196 members. Not too big an error on my part, then...redface.gif

Hi all

New to the forum but I've been interested in getting a Fabia VRS for a while (to replace my Polo GTi)...

I will definately get the Fabia REVO'd if I get one... I know a LOT of people from UK-MKIVS.net who have REVO and they all love it!

The simplicity of the install, the fact that no-one has to open up the ECU, and the fact that the ECU can be re-flashed to standard VAG code if you want to get rid of the code make it THE choice for me.

I've been out in a number of cars that have REVO code, and they seem fine (by fine, I mean fast!) and to be fair, out of all the people I've heard that have had it, there's only been one case out of all of them where the code hasn't "taken" on the car... but it's no big deal... The software just needs to be re-flashed and it's sorted!

I have read that the bloke at Jabba is a trained electrical engineer etc, which is cool, but to be fair, I'd much rather no soldering was done on my new car whatsoever!

I know I must sound like I'm being paid to say all this (trust me, I'm not!) but with things like the SPS units (which can alter fuelling and timing iirc) plus immobilise your car etc etc I wouldn't go for anything else!

My local VAG Performance Specialists are REVO dealers and I've seen so many satisfied customers drive in and out in under half an hour (driving out with massive smiles on their faces I might add!) when I've been down having stuff done to my car... It must be good!

Anyway, rant over... The only negative I can think of is that they don't do the 5 hour free trial on Diesels :(

Hope to see more of you guys if/when I get my finger out and get a VRS!

hello all

now theres a man who speaks sense' date='the only true way you can say if a product is good, is if you have tried it,and then tried a similar product!!!![/quote']

If you read the thread i pointed out to you, you'll find someone (ffelan) who DID try the Revo trial, had issues with it, and went elsewhere.

Could it just be that because of the amount of Seats, VWs and other brands Revo 'upgrade' their product has been made bug free over time? I imagine that although loads of similarities exist between Skoda and Seat, there might be very subtile differences, which have not been ironed out yet in the Skoda version of the Revo software...

calm down calm down

all i was saying ' date='is that if i can make it to the next meet would you be interested in trying my car.[/quote']

I am calm. Just pointing out that we have valid comparisons on the site already.

I shall insert a smiley so you don't assume i'm "having a go" ;)

It must be good![/quote']Jabba's remap isn't about the quality of the soldering - it's all about the quality of the ECU programme changes which is the crux of the matter. The Jabba remap is individual to each car and can be tailored to the performance characteristics you want, and to any performance mods you have fitted. The REVO programme isn't and can't be.

Jabba have considerable experience tuning the Skoda as the members who have had their cars tuned can attest, whereas REVO's experience tuning the Skoda is very much an unknown quantity on this forum. But if enough members go the REVO route, and have their cars checked on a dyno before and after the tuning to confirm actual power and torque gains, we will all be in a better position to judge the relative value for money of the REVO upgrade.

From a "non-tuned" perspective I can see the pluses and minuses on both sides. There are just many, many more members on Briskoda that have been the Jabba route rather than the Revo route. And, like anything in life, it's normally good to take a personal recommendation.

That isn't to say the the Revo code doesn't work or isn't as good as Jabba's. It may be, I don't know. It may be that there has just been many more personal recommendations for Jabba than Revo.

BUT... At the end of the day, you're happy with your car, and the Jabba'd members are happy with theirs. Hey! Lots of happy Briskoda members!!
