Slight wobble when in motion and roasting hot front wheel

Recommended Posts

Just bought a superb mk2 and done 100 miles when a slight judder when driving started to appear.

im assuming either sticky caliper or maybe bearing as drivers wheel burning hot. Stopped using it straight away and swapped back to my old trusty Clio.

is either of those two likely? I’ve booked it in the local garage but can’t get me in till next Thursday.

so back to 73bhp again sigh.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Most likely to be a sticking calliper, if you can, jack the affected wheel off the ground and check for drag when rotated - you can also check the wheel bearing for excess play or damage at the same time.

Ive taken it off the road right away so hopefully not too much cooking done - hoping disc not warped but is what it is.

My initial thought was calliper but a friend suggested bearing - maybe both yikes!

Or a stone stuck under the disc backplate. I had that once and the plastic disc wheel trim on that wheel got hot enough to boil water.
