Rear Washer not working

Featured Replies

Hi All :)

After all the kack and cold weather my wipers have been playing up, ive now fixed the front ones with a new fuse but the rear washer is now not working! I think that the pipe might have come off or be leaking because if you turn it on no water comes out of the nozzle but you can smell it escaping somewhere.

How easy is it to remove the inside of the boot door so i can check? Or could this prob be sorted some other way?

Cheers

Kit :)

LOADS..................of topics on this if you search. Probably up there with one of the top asked questions.

But just incase you dont want to.

Check the pipe in the engine bay.

Prone top popping off there.

Quick cable tie on it should ensure it stays on in future.

Mine has popped off there twice now, just behind the air filter housing. I've not tried to secure it. I can get at it here fairly easily and securing it will only make it pop off somewhere else.

Thanks for that :) Its leaking somewhere in the back i think as that where i can smell it.

I k now i should use the search more.......but as its hopeless (no offence boss) i find it quicker just to ask:)

If you can smell it, most likely come off behind the C pillar trim at the back.

When I purchased my VRS (2nd hand) the washer jet on the rear screen was extremely weak. It then stopped all together. I noticed that the washer fluid was leaking out of the tail gate & onto the rear bumper, so I removed the tailgate trim panel (its very firmly held on with clips but it does just pop off) & the hose had come away from the connector on the sprayer. I just reattached it - job done!

Will have a look at both of those places.....is there a place where i should grip to pull the boot cover off at?

I think I pulled the trim off around the lock area first. I may be wrong though as it was 3 years ago!!!

Can you hear the pump?

yeah i can hear the pump, the fronts work fine, the rear wiper also works when pressed.

Get a needle and poke it into the washer jet hole, mine was corroded or just crud in there ,been ok since

I noticed last night that my rear washer seemed to stop working, but not altogether, there is a very fine (and useless) mist escaping from the jet nozzle...must investigate :dull:

I have a rear passenger footwell full of washer fluid :( It has come off before both in t he engine bay and inside the boot trim. No idea where it has come off this time. Will have to investigate tomorrow :)

Thank You, I was just about to link to it or suggest looking at the sticky thread where I linked to it aswell.

Over Christmas I fix both of our Fabia's washer pipes that came off at the bulkhead. I had small enough hands not to dismantle the air box or anything else. Mine lasted about a day and then stopped. Today I found as you and ap0gee described it had come off near the back seat/door. However I looked at the wiper motor and when I put the cover back it looks like I have bent or broken some of the clips. :(

What about if the rear washer is working too well? So well that it squirts in a lovely arch over the roof and onto the bonnet? The nozzle doesnt seem to tilt, otherwise Id've just adjusted the angle...

This all started after my VW aero rear wiper arm upgrade....some of the WD40 i sprayed on the nut must've cleared the nozzle as the washer never worked since I bought the car.
